Give it to him thinner than you have been, but still on the spoon.

I had the same problem with my daughter. I would give her the rice cereal in a bottle and it was fine, but by itself she hated it. I now have the oatmeal baby cereal and she loves it either way. If you're using the rice cereal try the oatmeal and see if he likes that by itself.

my ped. told me that sometimes the first dozen feedings are hard baby has to learn how to eat! He told me to put a little bit of stage 1 fruits in it it adds texture and it gives a little taste to it. It just takes time Dont worry to much

try mixing it with some juice. our MIL said mix it with apple juice becuase it gives it a better flavor. is it totally a liquid? or as liquid as you can get? if still no luck he may not be ready. it takes time for them to get used to it tho sometimes

You need to wait a little longer. until he can sit on his own and has lost the tongue thrust refex that is pushing the food out of his mouth, no amount of trying to force him to lose the reflex sooner is going to make him ready for solids, the fact that he still has the reflex means his body is not ready for food yet. Putting cereal in a bottle doesn't work the same way and is not recommended unless it is nessasary to treat reflux, putting the cereal in the bottle can cause baby to choke and asperate the rice particles into his lungs which can cause respiratory infections. Some babies are ready for solids around 4 months, but most are not. Watch for signs of readiness (sits well, no tongue thrust reflex, intense interest in food, able to pick up small objects in a pincer grasp) and then when he's showing all the signs try again.

My daughter had the same problem what helped her was making it really thin until she got used to eating with a spoon and swallowing solids.

I agree with Sara. If your son is old enough to eat cereal though, you may be mixing it too thick. Try mixing it to a thinner texture.

This is called the tongue thrust reflex. It means he's not ready for solids. The reason he will take it from a bottle is because you are bypassing that reflex so he doesn't have a choice. I would wait longer to give him any solids and many pediatricians don't recommend putting cereal in a bottle. Check with your ped before making diet changes if you haven't already.

Make it very thin, almost runny. Babies have a gag reflex until 4-6 months old, so if he is not that old yet, wait to give him cereal when he has lost that reflex.

Maybe just wait a bit and try again. He may not be ready. Or try some fruits and veggies, he may not like the texture of the cereal

Depending on how old he is, he may not be ready for solids yet or he doesn't like to texture
