I found out on Tuesday at my 12 week prenatal appt that I had a missed miscarriage. the babys heart had stopped beating and it had stopped growing at 9 weeks. three days later I went to the hospital for a d and c. My husband and I definitly want to try again for another child (We currently have an 18 month old daughter at home) I will see my doctor again in two weeks and then again in August to get the go ahead to try again. I am looking for some inspiration please...has anyone had a miscarriage and d and c and has gone on to have more children? How soon did you try again?

Thank you so much ladies for your advice and support. Even though its a horrible thing to have to go through it is nice to hear from other women who have been through the same thing. Thank you for taking the time to share your stories with me.

Hi Heather. I'm so sorry for your loss. I also had a miscarriage when my son was almost 18 months old. And I found out at my 12 week appointment, and had a D & C the next day. We waited three months and then tried again. I had very early miscarriage that month. Now 6 months after the first miscarriage, I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant and have a very healthy pregnancy (with my first miscarriage I was on progesterone supplements; we had genetic testing done on the baby and found out he had a chromosomal problem and would not have lived, the progesterone just prolonged the inevitable in this situation).

I know it is a very difficult thing to go through, but it does get better. Try not to be discouraged many many people have one or more miscarriages and go on to have many more children.

One last thing that we found helpful was that we set aside a special time for my husband and I to say goodbye to our baby. We will always remember our baby, and it really helped to have a time to say goodbye.

Hi Heather. My first pregnancy was a miscarriage. Just like you babies heart had stopped beating at about 9 weeks but I didn't find out till 12 weeks. I was devastated and was so worried that I would not be able to have children. I now have 3 beautiful healthy children :) So yes - most women who have had miscarriages and D & C's go on to have more babies :) Give your self some time to grieve and for your body to heal. After my miscarriage we started trying again about 5 months later and were pregnant 4 months after that :)

I am sorry for your loss :(

I had two miscarriages before having a successful pregnancy, all within 4 months of each other. Probably the reason for the 2 miscarriages was that I was 35 at the time, so was in a higher risk age group, but keep in mind that miscarriages occur in about 20% of pregnancies, so LOTS of people have them, and go on to have successful pregnancies.
