I have a 3 year old son and I spent alot of time picking out their names, I like unussual names but something with meaning behind it! My sons name is Cowen Justus, I seen it spelled Cohen as a last name and regret changing the spelling cause people say "Cow"en! It means, "all knowing, or who is like a priest"! Although he is far from a "preist" he does think he knows everything! lol The middle name Justus is the masculin version of Justice! Good luck with naming ur child!

Thaddeus Clayton and Colton (Cole) Alan (due 10/21/09) are my sons names. Aside from Alan they are pretty uncommon. Thaddeus Alan is my soon to be husbands name, so its pretty clear where we got those two names. Clayton is my Great Grandfathers name and has been in my family for years someone in every generation has used it for as far as we go back and Colton is a name that we both agree on and its pretty uncommon.

My son's name is Alexei Hopkin. Alexei is a Russian or Eastern European variation of Alexander, which is a very strong name. Hopkin is Welsh for "son of Robert" ... obviously my hubby is Robert!

Banner, Ely, Brock, Ellis, Ever, Reece, Judah, Josiah, Asa, Hosea, Joash.
I liked the suggestions of Ryker and Asher. Esp Asher.
When we have a boy his name is going to be Asher Jose. Asher is hebrew it means 'happy' and Jose (my husbands name) is the spanish form of Joseph which means 'may God add'.

I wouldn't do Edward, with Twilight and the rest of those books Edward is not gonna be a very uncommon name for boys born in this time period...

It's not a bad name, just worried it would be very common in his age group. It's like when I was growing up seemed like every 5th girl was a Jennifer (I'm exaggerating a little, but I have like 3 or 4 friends named Jennifer or some variant on the theme. Says the woman who named her son Christopher, lol!)

One of my nephews is named Julius, which is an uncommon boys name. His middle name is even more unusual- Takoja. It's a Native American word that I think she told me means grandchild if I remember correctly- his grandfather is 100% Native American so she wanted him to have a name that honors that heritage.

Also, try looking for older names that just aren't common any more, or biblical names that aren't as popular. (just don't name the poor kid Zerububel or something like that. Some bible names are a little rediculous!) I liked the surname idea. Holbrook, Grey, Chace, Hadley, Tennant (sorry, Dr. Who fan, had to do it!), Walsh, Fabian, Ashton, Quentin, Emerson, Paddock, Kendall and Tanner are all last names that might sound cool as first names. You can go to a last name listing and spend hours getting good ideas.

As for us, our son has a very common boys name, Christopher, but it's a family thing. I'm considering a rather unusual name if I have a girl someday though- Liberty. It's pretty and we could call her Libby for short :D

Good luck finding the PERFECT name!
