Vapor bath for sick baby.

I love the vicks Vapor bath. It is made for baby's and it comforts my boys. It is true that the straightup Vicks vaporrub made for adults is not good for babies but they make some specifically for babes that is safe. (I am a nurse and a mom of 2 and 1/2 kiddos.) I also love Hyland's Homeopathic Tiny Cold Tablets (you can get them at Walgreens.) It is the only cold remedy that I have found that is safe for very young babies. I also swear by a humidifier when my kids are sick. We have the vicks humidifier that has pads with comforting sents for it. I have also used the storebrand of the Vicks baby bath and it worked just as well. Good luck, sick babies are the worst, especially when you can't comfort them!

I used the Johnson & Johnson vapor bath. Only use a tiny tiny bit and I always had a warm air humidifier running in my sons room!

We buy the all natural cough drops and just suck on them ourselves and gently blow it towards their nose. You could even just buy some mint (mint leaves or pure mint candies) and do the same.



You could even put a mint leaf into a warm bottle of water shake it up so the mint mixes with the water and let her drink some. Real mints are excellent at soothing a sore throat or cough, plus there is no worry on having to deal with medicine at such a young age.



I tried the bath stuff with my kids but it was always just too strong a scent for me (im chemically sensitive) For an 8 month old I would use only like a drop to a good size bath though, too much could just make things worse.

I always use it when Laci is sick. You have to have the water a little warmer then normal for it to work. they also make baby vapor rub, I rub that on her chest and back. It works like a charm. Also if your up for it, let her take a warm shower with you, the steam from the shower will get that cold out.

My son would sleep like a rock after taking a bath with the vapor bath. After the bath I would rub baby vicks on his chest for the lasting effect

just try the vicks baby rub or vicks baby humidifier.. it works great.... ive never heard of it burning a babys lungs.. my doc told me about the vicks baby line of stuff.. and it works great.. personally i like the baby rub better even for me cuz the adult stuff is too strong

I haven't heard of the Johnson and Johnson brand, but in Australia we have a baby vapour rub called 'EukyBear' which is much milder than normal Vicks and suitable for babies. I also use a vaporiser with eucalyptus and menthol drops when my daughter has a cold, and this helps clear her up so she can sleep.

I also run the hot water in the shower and steam the bathroom up before my daughter has her bath, and I find this really breaks up any congestion.
