I really need help with this, my daughter is 2 1/2 and she refuses to eat anything. I've tried yoghurts, custard, sweets, chips, she just wont eat. I've tried supplements to give her appetite but still no luck. It worries me because she is losing weight, and often wakes up at night because her stomach is empty and cramping, and then I struggle for her to drink her bottle as well. She used to have an incredible appetite and eat healthily, now I'm lucky if she eats once a day and then that is having to hold her and try and force feed her. I'm really worried that she is going to get sick and wont recover because of the lack of eating, can someone please help me?

I was going to say it could be a phase (my daughter is 2 1/2 and goes through phases of not eating, especially if she's a bit constipated). BUT... from what you described, you should definitely get her checked out by a doctor. It could have something to do with an internal problem (especially if she's turning down sweets at this age, lol). Good luck and hope you get some answers!

I was actually at the Dr the other day and he was talking about how eating habits change with age but he also mentioned what to look out for, and told me he's has cases where babies swollow something they aren't supposed to and it doesn't obstuct their air way but causes alot of discomfort when they eat or drink b/c it gets lodged in their throat. Either way it sounds serious and I was ask the Dr. Hope you figure it out soon.

Definitely go to the dr asap. Not eating is serious. She could have reflux or something like that that makes it painful after they eat. She could also have a sore throat which would make her not want to eat.

I would take her to the DR. Some kids just don't eat properly when they are younger. Mine have wierd eating habbits also. I've found that the more I explore with different foods, the more they like. My youngest is 2 and will not eat most meats, but if theres beans on his plate he scarfs everything down. The oldest hates veggies and scarfs the meat.... LOL! Also, I keep ovaltine in handy for when my kids eat light at a meal. It's a meal replacement technicaly. You just dont want to get her used to drinking it all the time, otherwise she'll have no appetite at all. Though she'll have all the nutrients out of the ovaltine she still needs a meal through her stomach.. In your case... If your concerned with her well being the first place i'd go is to the Dr for a visit. They my recomend you to a Dietition (sp?) Anyways, Take care and good luck with your picky eater... : )
