My son just turned 1 on Jan 6th, he has been walking around holding on for a couple months now and has stood alone a few times but will not take the steps yet. How old was your child/children when they began walking??

near my daughters 2nd birthday. but my son walked at just over 1 and he did the same get him a walker with a handle and stand him on it and it might help him take a step

you should get him one of those walk along stick toys some kids just need a guide and they don't even realise they're doing all the work. Like a talking vacuum or lawn mower.

He was not quite 13 months... But he only does it sometimes, he can walk across a room but most of the time will sit and just crawl... I think that it is a comfort thing! I am waiting for the walking, he is a tank my arms need a break!!! LOL

My son was 18 months before he started walking on his own. He was much like your son, "cruising" and standing up. But he didn't decide to walk on his own until he was 18 months. and then he was walking, running and walking on his tiptoes, all within a 1 week period! and he never had toddling accidents, and rarely trips or falls.
But this was typical of my son's personality. He is very cautious and doesn't do anything until he has it mastered. He was the same way with speaking, and eating, coloring, stacking blocks, etc.

My daughter was 10 months when she really stated walking around by herself. Se started walking holding onto furniture at 7 1/2 months. I wouldn't worry, every baby is diff and your son will walk when he is ready. He's on the right track by holding on and walking! The docs usually don't start to get worried if a baby isn't walking until 15 months.
