What are some ways to jump start labor? I know of quite a few, but wasn't sure if there were some I hadn't heard before... Any help on how to jumpstart labor would be greatly appreciated!!

castor oil worked to jumpstart labor when i was pregnant with my son i drank half the bottle and 2 hours later i was in labor and 3 hours later he was born!

I bounced on a yoga ball (kinda made me dizzy), walked around the block. That helped. My water broke less than 2 hours later.

There is a pressure point on your ankle. Get a food massage, or a total massage - get things circulating.
There also a pressure point on your hand you can do. It's between your thumb and index finger. It's right above the same pressure point that relieves headaches. Squeeze it.
At 38 weeks I was done being pregnant, so I did both pressure points, had sex, and walked. With in a couple days my son was born.

Yes! I ordered a Team Platter from Boston Pizza - Eat the spicey chip things hehe the (evening of get "Cozy" with your partner and next morning get into the shower and ball your eyes out, cry like you've never cried before!! lol worked for me!! water broke at 37 weeks 2 days

I was in the same boat as Tiffany, I think I tried all of the ways to jump start labor. I am a firm believer that the baby will come when he is ready.

Sex works..
I didn't know that sex was one of the ways to jump start labor.. I actually had my son early because of this. I had lost the mucus plug stuff and was concerned so we walked to the hospital (1.1mi this was a half an hour walk) got there and was told that I was already 4 centimeters dilated. Had to stay in hospital for another 2 days till I had the baby.. Hope this helped.. GOOD LUCK.. And CONGRATS..

sex should work because theres something about the sperm that makes the uterus contract. but i ate chinese food and that worked for me. i had it on saturday night and went into labor on sunday night. good luck.

Positive thinking? lol My due date was Oct 24 and I was very adament about having my baby before halloween so I could be home in time to take my older 2 out ( I had made thier costumes and had been working on them since sept.) When I went in for my check up that monday I was told there was no change to my cervix and that I had a little bit of thinning out to go. He told me that if I didn't have her over the weekend they would induce I told him I wasn't planning on being pregnant this weekend cause I had plans (lol) He wished me luck on that and left,... I had conversation w/ my unborn on the way home... needless to say I was in labor by 5 that night contractions coming @5 min intervals. when i got to the hospital @7 I was dialated to 3 water broke @ 12:07 she was out by 12:09

All of the above! Castor oil worked with my son, and I was only in labor for like 4 hours from start to finish too, also there's something called labor ease that you can buy at the health food store and you take a couple drops every hour and it gets things going, that worked for one of my labors too! Good Luck!!!!

I did quite a bit of walking( which was relaxing to me) , and sex with my husband. Before I knew it, I was in labor and didn't even know it(at first anyways).

I actually drank castor oil to jumpstart labor... not the whole bottle like I was told to but half then took a mile walk...warning...you will have diahrrea which sent me into contractions. Point of wake up to point of actual birth was 4 hours. Side benefit..I had nothing left in my system to have an 'accident' on the table. Another thing I heard that will jumpstart labor is to get a pedi or a foot massage due to the pressure points in your feet.

I have heard eating spicy foods is one of the ways to jumpstart labor. or sex and walking.. i tried most of them and i was two weeks late when I had my daughter! Good luck!

Tried all the ways to jump start labor... sex (with my hubby), bumpy truck, using the pump early (nipple stimulation), walking till i felt like i was gonna pass out (was big w/no ankles) heck i even ran, raw jalapeno pepper(do not recommend if sensative to hot stuff, baby went crazy), foot spas & rubs (sounds crazy but certain messages are known to induce), didnt try the evening primrose pill though(dont know what that is) or the castor oil. none worked for me my son was VERY stubborn i recommend waiting till the due date & having your doc do it. It was in the hottest part of summer though would of loved to of been 9 months in this weather!

Nipple stimulation - self or husband's help LOL When your nipples are stimulated it releases a hormone that stimulates your uterus to contract. You must do it to the point of climax or close to it - stop, and then do it again and again - til you are in full blown labor. My fourth it worked right away, the fifth baby it took longer, and two days of it -- but it still worked - baby still comes when baby is going to come - but it helped twice for me!

I had all of mine on time without anything but walking. My sister on the other hand went bowling with a baby ball(6 pound) and went into labor 2 days later. Good Luck

raspberry leaf tablets
lots of nipple stimulation, with breast pump
sex
climbing stairs
skipping (yes you may look like an elephant galloping around the house, but if it works!)
