my little chunk is now while on her belly going round in circles and pushing herself backwards shes less frustrated about it cos she moving somewhere and it is funny to watch managed to get hold of my health visitor and she said that her weight is a concern when it comes to her health and it could be affecting her crwaling but she has slowed down her weight gain latley and i just need to keep her on her belly as often as shes happy with it im getting her weighed in 2 weeks so hopefully shes evened out a bit rather than gained atleast 1lb every 3 weeks like usual lol

Well my girl started crawling backwards at 6 months but did not get the forward thing until almost 8 months, which I think is the 'average' though all babies are different with girls usually being a bit ahead of boys.

I would not worry until she is months past the average and even then a doctor will probably tell you not to worry. Also not all babies to crawl some simply go from scooting to walking!

i got an activity saucer cant have a door bouncer yet not existent door frame and dont have space for a free standing one i dont agree with walkers unless u have a lot of space for them to play in shes starting to roll over again so i think shes losing some weigh with sitting up and shes stopped sleeping as much during the day i dont want to wish her life away i just want to make sure her weights not delaying he i didt walk til i was 2 because i was soo big i think i crawled at around 9months thats the earliest pic iv seen

Put her in a jumper it will get her to lose the weight cuz shes active or put her in a walker itll get her legs stronger so she can get the strength to move and to also lose the weight. If she dont like the walker or the jumper put her in a activity saucer it looks like a walker but it stays in one place and its a round bottom. it has all sorts of toys on it. itll help with her leg strength.

my daughter crawled about 8 9 months and my son crawled about 9 10 months and my daughter was premie when she was born and my son was full term so it has nothing to do with the weight or how chunky the kids are.

Haha Erika! That's what my 6 1/2 month old son seems to be doing too-crawling backwards! It's not a *real* crawl, more like a scooting. But, he can't seem to go forward.

Actually my daughter walked before she crawled.... she could walk.. then she learnd how to pull herself up.. and just never wanted to be on her knees, needless to say when she was a year and a half i wanted her to crawl.. but she didnt really need to, but i made it a fun game.. and she finally did it!

My son is 8 months old now, he's been crawling since he was 5 months (tho he could only crawl backwards at first, but then figured out the forward crawl at 5.5 months haha)

My son started walking the day he turned 15 months, I didn't think he was ever going to walk. Bless his heart his head was so big he had to hold his hands above his head to balance himself, it was so cute.

Don't worry too much about her, my son was ten months old before he ever started to crawl and it wasnt even a real crawl he crawled like a little army man, it was so cute. every child develops at different times. My son was a litte slower than some, but now he is smart as a whip. I would also suggest talking to her doctor just to see what he/she thinks about, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I think its possible being a little chunky could make crawling a little harder but thats probably not the whole reason why your baby isnt crawling yet. Every baby does things at their own pace. When the baby is ready he/she will crawl I really wouldnt worry too much about it. If your baby is one and not crawling or not even close I would be concerned. As long as your baby is making progress or trying I think thats great. My son learned how to crawl at 9 months but would only crawl backward for a month. It was funny and cute at 10 months he started crawling forward. He is 13 months now and isnt walking but can walk aroung furniture and push his walking car thing around. Im not worried cuz at least he is making progress he will walk when he is ready. Just give your baby time it will come.

My son is 6 1/2 months & I don't think he is going to crawl anytime soon. He is small for his age too, so I don't think it has anything to do with being chunky. A friend of mine has a baby who just turned 7 months & he is a very big baby & he's already doing the army crawl thing. I'm just cherishing every moment with him & every single stage. He will do things when he's ready & before I know it, he'll be running around the house getting into everything!

my son is almost 9 months and very small for his age (less than 18 lbs) and doesn't crawl yet. he scoots around backwards and rolls or pushes himself where he wants to go. he just started to get up on his hand and knees and rocking his tushy back and forth a few days ago so maybe he will get the forward thing figured out soon, lol. He loves to hold onto fingers and walk and pull up so who knows if he will even want to crawl!?

if she is trying just give her time, it's still early and once she gets moving the chunkiness will most likely go away.

my son is 8 1/2 months and started crawling just a few weeks ago. he is all over the place and is pulling himself up on everything! he even walks along furniture to. i didnt think he would even crawl because he would walk while we were holding his hands and showed very little interest in crawling and then one day he tried to reach a toy and managed to get himself up and going and hasnt stopped since. so just dont worry about it if your baby isn't crawling by a certain age. and definately can not compare them to others :D just be happy. crawling isnt all its cracked up to be anyways... they get into everything then. lol

My son was almost 10 months when he started crawling. My daughter is almost 8 months and isn't crawling yet. She won't even lay on her belly, so it's not likely to happen anytime soon!

My son is 8 and a half months and yet still does not want to crawl, it took him forever to even want to be layin on his tummy he hated it for so long and all he would do was cry so I stop putting on it until a month and a half ago. All he does is roll around and if he wants a toy he will just pull on his blanket to get it LOL. He his my 3rd child and learning from the other two all children go @ there own pace wither or not they are chunky or not. :)

I agree with Katarina, you can't compare two babies, they all develope on there own time when they are ready. I have seen some babies crawl right at 6 months, and others not crawl until they are a year old, and some I have seen never crawl and just get up one day and walk! My daughter just turned 8 months, and shows absolutely no interest in crawling at all, but she lover her walker, loves sitting on the floor, and just started pulling herself up to stand, I think she will skip crawling!

My son didn't crawl until he was 10 months old. Being "chunky" has nothing to do with it. Every baby is different. Some crawl some don't. Some crawl at 6months others may not crawl until a year. She'll move when she's ready.
