Some friends of mine are wanting to go swimming at our local pool; they have a kiddie pool there and there is no age limit as to how young your child can be to go in it. I've been looking on line and calling around but no one seems to know at what age is a good age to let a baby go into a pool. My daughter will be 5 months next week and a friend's son is only 3 months then another is 6 months....

I took my son in a pool when he was five months old.  I got a floatie thing from Wal-Mart that had a cover over it so direct sunlight didn't get him.  It could also snap toward the back so depending on where the sun is in the sky, you can protect your baby.  Have a blast!!

we took our daughter to the pool when she was 4 months old...but we were very careful for her not to swallow any of the water. There is actually a study that shows babies who go swimming have more diarrhea...i guess from the chemicals.

I was told as long as the baby has had it's first set of vacines, it's ok. you can buy really cute UV protective swimsuits for baby's at Target with matching hats and sun glasess. You can also buy shaded pool floates for babies at your local toys r us even walmart carries them. Just be make sure to dry baby off really well as you sun burn quicker when wet.

I took my son for the first time when he was four months old.  I think that it helped as I was able to build up mine and his confidence in the water.

any age is fine really, it depends how comfortable you are. we took my daughter when she was 2 months old and she loved it.

I don't think there really is an age. As long as you are using sunscreen and keeping them hydrated, I think they are fine. Although I've been taking my kids out since they were born. You just have to use common sense and listen to what your children are telling you.

I took my little girl just before she turned six months, besides her hating that the water was much colder than her bath water, I'm sure she would have enjoyed it!

My son went for his first swim in a public swimming pool when he was about 4 months old, then went to FL and experienced the ocean (and beach) when he was 5 months old. Just keep her out of the sun. I'm expecting a daughter in May and she'll be spending some time out by the pool this summer (and to Florida).

Oh yeah, they also recommend that you wear the swimming diapers on the babies or they can't go swimming in the pool.

I just finished getting back from the pool for both my boys swimming lessons. They are 21 and 9 months old. I talked to the teacher last year and she said that they recommend that the babies are 3 months old unless it's a baby pool with normal water and no chemicals. There swim lessons start at 3 months old for kids. I use a full body swimsuit (surfer style) that open on the bottom to change diapers if need be. It protects them from the UV rays and stuff and they dry quicker so they don't freeze that bad. In the end it is up to you really when you want to start taking them. My oldest started at 3 months and is a full out water boy, they both come running and/or crawling to the bath tub when they hear the water running. Have Fun Swimming. =)

I dont think there is a minimum age. I took my daughter at a very young age. Dont get a bathing suit get the wetsuit looking type outfit. It covers skin and definitly a floppy hat. And most public pools wont allow regualar diapers you have to buy swim diapers. So you may want to check on that as well.

check your areas uv rays for the day schedule the right time where the sun is not at its strongest.  they have little two pieces that are like what you see surfers wear- it has some uv proctenate to it. like target has some and I bought my adaughter one at old navy. also I'm getting the little kiddie tube that has a cover over it. every little bit helps. I know you want to get some sun but try to keep them in the shade.  oh and you can go to weather.com to see where the sun is the strongest and even if its a cloudy day 80% still gets thorugh and if your in water the reflectant is still high.  make them wear a suitable sun hat and the childrens place even has sun glasses. I'm in FL and thats the best info I've recieved.

Well the only thing about taking children is is that you have to be careful about the sun. Because you're not suppose to put sun screen on an infant younger than 6 months of age.

I would take her. I took my son when he was about 4 months old. As long as you feel comfortable with it, then go ahead.
