What brand of bottle would you recommend?

I used Dr. Browns for my first child, and while I liked them, they were hard to keep clean without a dishwasher (which we no longer have). I would like to find something that is easy to clean and reduces air bubbles to use for my next baby. Any suggestions?

i started with the dr browns as well. i wanted only the best for my son, but by the time he was 5 months, i was sick and tired of spending over an hour each night washing all those bottles by hand with the little cleaner. i switched to the gerber nuk bottles and had no problems, he even started spitting up less after switching. the only problem with those bottles was i found they are so large for them to start holding their own bottles. i ended up just getting some cheap evenflo bottles once my son hit 10 months so he could hold his own (he would throw a fit if i wouldn't let him do it!)

some babies become accustom to a type of nipple and will have a hard time switching, my son howveer had no problems.

good luck!

I really loved the Avent Bottles- they were great because I breastfed and worked, so I had to pump in order to feed my son while I was a work. I used the Avent pump which pumped staight into the bottles and you could store the milk right in the bottle, and all you had to do was add the nipple and there you go! They were really easy to keep clean too.

I used Playtex drop-ins and Ventaire with both of my boys.

I like the Avent bottles, but my daughter didnt like the nipple on it. I had to use MAM brand nipples because the shape fit her mouth easier. The MAM nipples actually fit the Avent bottle tops too! I like these bottles because they are easy to clean and easy to tell how much the baby eats. My daughter had trouble eatting for a while so I really needed something to monitor how much she did or did not eat. Plus these bottles and nipples are supposed to reduce air intake which helps with gas.

I used Dr. Browns and loved them. I did not have a dishwasher either. I used a bottle brush and didn't have a problem.

Dr Browns are wonderful but you're right, hard to keep clean. Avent are great too.

Avent are fine but they won't last forever. I find that I need to keep buying new teats or they start to leak. Infuriating when you have milk dribbling down your arm but as bubs grow older you need the new teat sizes fairly regulary anyway so it's no biggie! It's not annoyed me enough to change make! Dr Browns are my fav too but way too hard to clean all the time & they don't fit in the microwave anymore!

You should try Gerber Nuk. Out of all the ones I tried with my son, those seemed to work the best.

With my first I used the Dr. Brown's bottles and the Playtex Ventaire bottles. I didn't like all the little pieces you have to keep clean, so with my second, I am using Playtex DropIns....SO MUCH EASIER to keep clean and still helps keep air bubbles out.

Playtex Ventaire are my favorite and I have tried several! They cut down on air that your baby swallows (i have had a hard time with my son and getting gas from eating fast) they are super easy to clean, although depending on what dishwasher detergent you use I dont really recommend you use the dishwasher to clean them I have found that most detergents leave a "film" on the nipples... handwashing the bottles is easy and it always makes me feel better that I know they are clean!

For my first son I used thePlaytex drop in bottles, being able to squeeze all the air out of the bag really cut back on his gas. With my second son I am using playtex advanced bottles, and playtex drop ins. The playtex advanced bottles are "L" shaped and the air comes out at the end of the bottle. Best part, you can take the bottles apart at the top and the bottom. So when you have to hand wash all your bottles these bottles really help.

Def. BORN FREE..these are awesome! My daughter never had colic, she took very well to them and they're BPA free.

I use glass bottles. When I asked my son's doctor what she suggested, she said that they are all the same. Glass bottles are sooo easy to clean and my son has no problems with the bubbles.

I use Tommee Tippee bottles they have a anti colic valve in the teet. I srongly recomand them if you are going from breast to bottle as the teet is nice and soft and shaped like a boob, the bottle it self is also very easy for baby to hold. As for cleaning once again this is easy too as they have a nice wide neck.

I used Avent at first cause i have the breast pump. My son though didn't care for the nipple so a friend suggested MAM they have a flat like nipple and air vents on the base of the bottle.

I would highly recommend Avent bottles. Brilliant for preventing colic and easy to keep clean. Dr. Browns are good, but like you said, difficult to clean. You can buy special bottle brushes to clean them. Just wash them up in a washing up bowl with washing up liquid (not anti-bacterial) and rinse them out before putting them in the steriliser.

I too use Dr. Brown bottles. I dont have a problem keeping them clean. What I use is the lil hose sprayer that is attached to the sink due to the pressure of the water that comes out. Also very very hot water. Along with Dr. Brown bottles I use AVENT bottles.

Well, I would normally recommend Dr.Browns, but I can side with you completly about them being time consuming to clean without a dishwasher!

We also did the Playtex Nurser's with the dispoasable bags, they worked great for my son (who has been fairly "gassy" since birth). I

Good Luck!

I like the Playtex Nursers bottles. You can't put the nipples in the dish washer anyway, and the liners are very handy to me bc you can get all the air out yourself, and you don't have to worry about your baby taking in so much air. If I didn't use these I'd probably use those bottles that tilt (can't remember who makes em) bc they're easier on your wrist and they help you feed your baby in a more upright position. Hope I helped!

Playtex Ventaire Advanced. They are designed to reduce colic and gas.. and they actually work. My daughter, now six months old, had lots and lots of spit-ups on all other brands, including Dr Bown, which were horrible to clean. They have wide and standard nipples, depending on whether you are breastfeeding. The tops and bottoms both come off, so cleaning is very, very easy. The drop-ins are a waste of money and are bad for the environment, also I have had them leak and explode before. The VentAire ones come with fast and slow nipples, and a replacement piece for the bottom. I swear by them. I always wanted to use glass, but by the end of month two, had broken at least a dozen. I have never had a nipple leak, or the bottom. If you make sure they are put together properly, you will not have any problems.

Playtex Drop Ins!! You don't have to wash the actual bottle, just pretty much rinse it, and the liners are disposable! I LOVE them. I have used them on both of my daughters!

Quoting Julie:

Most bottles claim to reduce air bottles now. My son preferred the First Year Soothie bottles; they have a wide green nipple like the Soothie pacifiers that are given in a lot of hospitals. I think the similarity to his pacifier helped make the transition to bottle easier (I breastfed for 2 months, and the Soothie pacifier was the only one he ever had). Also, since it is a wide mouth bottle, it is really easy to clean.

My son, Gage, was the same way. I agree with this post! (:

i used dr. browns an your right very hard to deal with if no dishwasher but i also used soothie ones to. i used both with my !st baby an now using them again my my lil boy they are the best bottles an not to expensive an so easy to clean they(soothie) also make a steamer bottle cleaner for them that goes in microwave which was great cause you don't have to boil them an you know they are getting just as clean as in dishwasher.

the dr. browns are wonderful but hard to clean like you said but I use those on top of the soothie bottles because they seem to feel more natural to my son and they are super easy to clean because of the wider mouth

My son would throw up on any bottle other than Avent and Nuk. The avent bottles are more expensive, and they don't sell replacement parts or the bottles at walmart. I live in a relatively small city and we don't have target or babies r us here, so that was an issue :)

Soothie bottles are really good. Easy to clean, and easy for them to learn to hold. Walmart carries them.
