Hi!

My gal has eczema too, if it's localized, it's thankfully not as bad as full body. Can be controlled via various measures from moisturizing (a must), to topical cream (as prescribed), chlorhexidine or bleach bath or swimming, wet wrap for the leg.

Try using psoriacin i think thats how you spell it.. Hydrocortisone is bad to use on children because it is a steroid and can affect the way they grow. Too many people use steroids without knowing what they can cause.

The best emollient i use is Epaderm its brilliant smother him all over his body twice a day and can also be used in bath as shampoo and all over wash,this keeps echzma under control great,hope this helps.

Hi Jenny! My little boy had eczema over his whole body. I finally was able to get it under control by using Aveeno Baby. It’s a lotion specifically for eczema. You can find it by the baby lotions. That has helped a lot! If I would have known about it before, I would have used that then paying for a prescription. It is a lot cheaper. I hope that helps.

My son has eczema extremely bad, he has been to 3 different doctors including an allergy doctor and getting ready to try a new doctor. One doctor had said use 1/4cup of bleach mixed in his bath water and gave an oral Rx to help with the itching those things did help but hasn't cleared it up. We have also been told so many things by so many doctors it seems as if we have tried it all. We now just keep Vaseoline, Aveeno lotion and Aveeno hydrocortisone cream on him and bath him using Aveeno bath wash. We try to make sure his skin doesn't get dry so he doesn't scratch. All of that has been helping some but not completely gotten rid of it.

My Dr suggested i give my daughter 2 baths a day one in morning and at night i use baby oil then i use Huggies hypoallergenic lotion to keep her skin moist and so at night she not crying cause she's itchy.It seems to work ive been doing it now for 3 years and she's 5 now.Hope this helps and good

Take your child to a dermatologist. My brother's son has eczema and they got him on some trial medicines for free and it cleared him up very well. My brother has psoriasis, as do I, so I'm a firm believer in dermatologists any how... regardless of free trial medicines which coud be potentially harmful I suppose....

Aquafor nightly for dryness and Aveeno lotion daily. As others mentioned, only bath every other night. We have been fighting with eczema for 11 years and finally found something that helps. It is rather unconventional and I was wary at first. Our pediatrician suggested that once or twice a week we add 1/4 cup of bleach (I know bleach?) to a full tub of bath water. You can't believe what a difference it has made!

My friend swears by it and I've seen the results! Only took about a week and her poor little mite was all red and patchy with rough dry skin before that!!

euxerin is good for keeping the skin moisturized but in my opinion with both by babies hydrocortizone works good to keep them from scratching themselves to sores, and also watching their diet can help too and knowing what they may be allergic to

i had to take my 18month old to a dermatologist because it got so bad....she was itching like crazy. the dermatologist told me there is no cure but she gave me a prescription cream to help with it....also she said giving a bath daily is what can stir it up...now i can only bathe her once or twice a week....all the other days i just wipe her down with a damp cloth. also i cant use baby wash...i have to use bar soap that has no scent to it...no perfumes no colors no anything. i cant use any laundry soap or softener that has scents or dyes in it. i use purex free and clear....and just with those changes...it looks tons better! good luck!

hi. I've had eczema since I was very little & may 16 month old is getting it as well... I have been using zinc oxyide cream (diaper cream) since i was small, use it still & am now using it on my daughter... it works very well when you have a flare up.

My niece( 5 years old) has had eczema super bad too!! She went swimming at the YWCA and it cleared right up! It was the chlorine that cleared it up. My sister now takes her to the pool everyweek now and hasn't had a breakout in 7 1/2 months!

most impotant thing is to be consistant with what ever it is you choose to use, you can use it till it's all good and stop you have to do it all the time, i have a 7 1/2 yr old who has had it since 6 mths old, be careful though with the hydrocortizone as prolonged use thins the skin(i don't use it personally)

My son has had severe eczema since he was ~4 months old (he is 1 now). We have gone to a dermatologist several times during the course of it. They recommend using Cetaphil or Cera Ve lotions as Eucerin may have irritating ingredients. They also recommended Vanicream as a sunblock. We also use hydrocortisone (2.5% which is a prescription, but 1% is over the counter and is most likely all you would need). "Bleach baths" were also recommended. 1/4 cup of regular house hold bleach in a full tub of water (can be scaled based on amount of water). At first I was surprised a doctor would even suggest this, but there have been clinical studies done with great results. Good luck! I know how frustrating and difficult this can be to deal with.

im living with a roomate who has it. his grandmother found an article about it. take all-pourpose flour, put it in a black skillet or baking sheet, and then bake it in the ovenuntil it turns brown. after cooling it, powder the rashes with the flour for three to five days and the eczema will disappear.

The doctors will tell you not to give your child a bath everyday because it drys out their skin. Just give them everyother day unless they are really dirty and than you will have to give them a bath. MY kids all have eczema. some kids grow out of it. also use eucerin to moist them

There is a brand called Cerava for eczema you can get lotion soap.. it really helps kinda coastly but it does really work my little cousin had it and used that and its gone.. and makes it less dry and icy

My daughter has it also. She is 3 years old and has been treated with everything!! Unfortunately it is still there and has not improved much. She has been to a dermatologist multiple times and the only thing we can do to help this chronic condition is to avoid certain things that make it worse, flare up. Bubble baths arent a good idea because there is more of a residue on the skin which can be an irritant. Hot or warm water causes the rash to become more inflamed, so cool/ lukewarm baths are best. Don't use lotions and soaps with dyes and scents. I avoid anything with Lanolin or cashmere extracts in it. Many people with this skin problem have a slight allergy to it. I have used oatmeal baths and noticed a slight difference in the redness of the skin, but the bumps remain.

Honestly we tried all of the things that the doc told us to do. We even went and bought those expensive creams. The best thing that we found was using A&D ointment (the white kind not the vasaline kind). That seemed to do the best plus you just rub it all in and it doesn't leave a residue on clothes. My son has had it since he was born and he had it so bad that he would bleed and now there is no sign of it whatsoever and he is only two. When we started using the A&D it started going away. My daughter is now 2 but when she was little she had eczema around her mouth and on her legs bad I took her to a skin doctor and found out that she is allergic to Eucerin cream it is rare but since she cant use that she told me to put like a teaspoon of bleach in her bath water but make sure she didnt drinkit and stuff and there isnt enough in the tub water to actually matter but it dries it up and it started to get smaller and smaller! And now she doesnt have any on her!

I have been dealing with eczema with my son for 5 1/2 years now and the best thing that has worked for him is we only give him a bath every other day it helps his skin from drying out. I can only use the johnsons and johnsons bar son on him when givinging him a bath it is the only soap that i have found that is mild enough for his skin and as soon as he gets out of the bath i use coco butter on him to lock in the moisture. I have tried a lot over the years and if you want anymore pointers i would be happy to help. Amy

My daughter has this and the dr put her on elidel cream didn't really do much now she gets Hydrocortisone cream she has to apply it 2 times a day durning an outbreak she used to have it on her face now as she is getting older its on her elbows.

My lil man is 18 months and he has had eczema on his belly since he was born! I have it too on my ankles! We use hydrocortizone 1% and it clears up in like 2 days also helps get rid of the itching!

Arbonne does have some wonderful products. They are a bit spendy though. My daughter has eczema all over her body. Mostly her legs. She used to get it on her face. Now the only time she does is if we wash her face with anything but water or if food (in particular ketchup, peanut butter) doesn't get wiped off right away. Avoid certain foods. I have found citrus is a trigger. Avoid bathing everday if possible and keep baths short and sweet. adding lavendar oil to the bath is also very soothing for the skin and smells great.

hi jenny, my daughter suffers with excema quite severly and after years of different creams we found one called dermol 500 that has finally made some difference to her skin. i know a lot of other mams have mentioned about allergies to different things and that nobody seems to have mentioned washing (laundry) powder being an irritant, i would recommend fairy baby bio liquid as the powder and putting your washing back on for an extra rinse cycle to make sure there isnt any soap residue left on your washing, hope this has been of some help to you

I tried using all of those things for my kids. I use Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream. It is in any baby isle at any store. I use it on my 4 mth, 4 and 8 year old. The best stuff ever. My kids use to get it so bad, it would crack and bleed. Just put that stuff on everyday after bath, especially during winter, and promise it will work quickly.

All my kids have it, i use to blend up oatmeal into a powder and add it to the Eucerin cream at night before they went to bed. this worked wonders. once you get it to calm down just use the eucerin.

ny daughter has eczema, i use a cream called Diprobase,prescribed from doctor.it is really good,it may not get rid of it,depending how bad it is,but it will certainly clear it up.

also helps not to use perfumed soap, for the bathing use Infacare,also very good. hope that has helped.

My son has it very bad too- I have tried so many different medications from doctors, allergy tests and nothing seemed to work. Although I have found a couple products that work very well- There is a cream at walgreens near the pharmacy Its call dermatest- Its in a white bottle is says for ezcema on the bottle. It has 1% Hydrocortizone cream it in which helps a ton. Its like 12 dollars but works great. You want to use light creams so it does not clog the pores. Also you can try using the auaphor baby wash... I know giant still carrys it but Im not sure if anywhere else does. I know it was going out of stock in alot of stores... you can try online too. Those two items have helped my son a bunch! Usually ezcema is caused by a allergy- you might want to talk to you doctor about seeing a pediatric allergist or a derma. Email me if you need more info. hydrocortisone cream or ointment would do, but u must get a prescription from the doctor, and ask how to apply and the amout to be applied, as far as i know, it should be applied equally and thinly over the affected surface because if not, it may be absorbed systemically and may have effects on your baby's system..

I've had bad eczema my whole life and still have occasional outbursts. at night I put hydrocortizon ointment and zinc. By the following morning everything is gone.

Hi, I would try an amber "teething" necklace -- I have heard some amazing reports about what they can do for all types of things, including eczema! :o) It's natural, obviously non-toxic, inexpensive and I think perhaps worth the small outlay - even if it doesn't work - cos they look so lovely on the little ones! :o)

first don't use any reg. baby products they just make it worse. i like to use baby aveno or burts bees products but if it is a really bad break out ask your doc for a proscription for it. my son has eczema too and another thing that makes his skin act out is to manny baths. so only every other day and with the sinsitive stuff that is also costly but worth having a happy child. hope this helps-sheila

Hi Jenny,

My step-daughter is 11 & she has had eczema since she was 2. First off, we were informed that often eczema can be the body's reaction to an allergy of some sort. So we had her tested & sure enough she was allergic to every item on the allergy panel. We reduced her exposure to those items and have been using topical creams as well. She used Elidel for years & we recently switched b/c prolonged use of Elidel combined w/sun exposure can put you at risk for skin cancer. She has been using Triamcinolone Acetonide cream, .5% for about 4 months now & it is amazing! It's a steroid cream, so she uses it sparingly, but results are immediate (within 30 mins.), so prolonged use itsn't necessary. Also, short baths/showers help. Her dermatologist also prescribed LacHydrin lotion...It is an extreme moisturizing cream that makes her skin silky smooth and really helps the healing process. Hope this helps...sorry so wordy.

My doc prescribed a lubriderm+ kenalog mixture that we swore by. Works GREAT! My daughter is 4 now and still uses it. My insurance co wouldn't cover it though.

My son has the same problem but on his arms. I took him to the dr. and they gave me a cream to put on it. They also gave me samples of some over the counter cream to put on it and there is also soap that they gave me the name of it is CeraVe. Hope this helps

Get a "rainbow air purifier" call 304-347-3660, they have a client that recieved a air purifier and their child had eczema and it went away. If you call them they will give you her number and she can verify it for you and tell her how it helped her.
