It's not too late! If you want to breastfeed, then your body WILL make food for your child. Women who have stopped breastfeeding for months, or have never breastfed at all can lactate.

You can breastfeed again. It's called relactation. Even moms who've adopted and never breastfed or even been pregnant can lactate. I would seek out a certified lactation consultant (there should be one at the hospital where you delivered) or a La Leche League leader. Start putting baby to the breast frequently. Pump as often as you can and use a supplemental nursing system. This is a tube that you attach to your breast. Baby will still be stimulating the breasts to make milk and they will also get expressed milk or formula from the tube so they will stay hydrated until you build a supply. Visit http://www.llli.org/ to look for a local group.

This site has really good advice. I would also recommend STRONGLY that you call a lactation consultant. Call your hospital and see if they have one. Or check the le leche league website for one near you. Honestly the lactation consultant is the ONLY reason I was successful breastfeeding.
