what do you do to prepare your nipples for nursing the second time around before baby's born?

just beat them up as much as possible... use olive oil and have your husband play with them to his hearts content. this way when baby comes they will already  used to the extra attention. just b carefull if youre not far enough along as doing too much of this too early can cause early labor. good luck and congrats on your soon to be new arrival

I used the Lanisoh also, about 2-3 weeks before my baby was born. I used it afterwards also for about a week, and it was so much easier. (I didnt use it with my first two children).

Before my second was born I would have a hot shower then rub a cream called Lansinoh into my nipples, it is also safe to use during feeding. No need to wash off before they feed. I found the cream worked really well, hardly any pain or cracks in those first few days of feeding, when they have trouble attaching. The cream is very thick and soothes cracked and sore nipples. One other thing, a midwife once told me to express alittle of the colostrum out and gently rub onto the nipples, natures way of helping.... good luck

I don't think theres much that can be done before baby comes along. But an older lady told me when I was pregnant to "rub my nipples with a toothbrush!" ouch i'd rather have a baby suckling thankyou!!

Oh yeah, AFTER 1st baby came along our midwife simply suggested using olive oil to keep moist after & between feedings. It's natural, therefore, not harming baby, but fatty enough to lubricate skin in order to prevent/heal cracking, dry skin. (It helped me & gave me peace of mind cuz my baby wasn't ingesting chemicals or anything remotely dangerous for her.)

The best thing I found was to make sure to lubricate nipples with the clear nipple cream (looks like vaseline). I can't remember name of it, there are a few brands that u can pick up @ any drugstore or grocery store. Make sure to put it on after each feeding and a couple of times in between. Nursing bras and making sure the whole areola or at least as much as can fit is in the mouth so that its more comfortable for you. Hope this helps.
