I'm a 24 year old mother of 2 (almost 3 years and 5 months) and my husband and I are 100% sure we are done having kids... Do you think I should have a Tubal Ligation (getting my tubes tied)? I know for sure that I do not want anymore kids but many people are saying that I am just to young to make that kind of decision.

I wanted to get my tubes tied when i was 25 and my doctor didn't want me to and neither did my husband. I know for sure that I don't want anymore. My husband is unsure and we have three kids. He said he would get a vasctomy but it has been a year. So wheat we decided to do was I would get te depo shot until he is for sure. I say if you and your husband agree you are done then you should get your tubes tied if you want. Good Luck!

I'm 28 and we have 2 kids. We're almost 100% sure we're finished. My husband's having a vasectomy when he turns 30 - it's his turn for birth control, plus there are less risks with a vasectomy since it's less invasive.

I currently have a Mirena and love it. I don't even know it's there and don't have to think about birth control for the next 2 years until my husband has the vasectomy.

I believe it is your life and your decision. If you both feel like 2 is enough then it is. Me, one is plenty, but I am 31 so I'm not in the same age category. But that is a serious surgery. Have you considered him having a vasectomy? My husband is going that route when we have health ins. again. But the recovery time for a tubal is way longer than for a vasectomy, simply due to the fact that they have to cut deeper. Just a thought.

I am currently on b/c after being on the Mirena and that is one that I would NOT suggest. I ended up gaining so much weight and I'm still fighting to get it off!!

I'm 28 and prego with my 3rd. I know I do not want any more and my doc actually asked me yesterday if I'd thought about it. But to me I just can't have that option taken away from me. I love being pregnant and I have fairly easy labors (knock on wood) and I can't entirely rule it out even though I don't want any more. It's a decision only you and your husband can make though. (personally it's easier for the guy just to get snipped, cheaper and more easily reversed)

I don't know... I was struggling with this too. My husband and I are 23 and we're having another baby, but after this one he said he's done and would get snipped. I think I'll just get the copper IUD because it lasts for 10 years, is non-hormonal, and reversible. I would do this because you can never know what will happen in the future, how your situation might change, and you might just want another after some time. My husband and I joked that when our daughter graduates from high school we'll have another, we'd only be 38, it's not that uncommon nowadays.

me here, and i'm only twenty two. i have so many problems first getting pregnant and then carrying the baby, and after this one [delivery by csections for both my kids] i am DONE! even if anything, god forbid, ever happened and i was with someone else other than my hubby, this person would just have to deal with the fact that i will never have any more. it's too risky for me. buuuuut i doubt the docs will do it for me, i'll have to go back when i'm older and have a second surgery. stupidity. i feel for you. i'm pretty sure there's rules about it, but i'm not sure. you have to be a certain age or have a certain number of kids or something lame like that :P
