I have a son named Lucius, i have never said his name in public without someone saying how strange it is, my youngest is named Saxon, we call him Saxy boy and everyone gets a little weired thinking we are calling him sexy boy lol, my eldest is Caleb, wasn't so common (or so i thought) when i named him, now every class (kindy, prep and primary) there are atleast 3 other Calebs in his class. I love a unique name so don't let anyway sway you or upset you with your choice.

It is definately unique. not in a bad way tho. and who cares. even if every mom you ask thinks it is weird, it is your daughters name. it isnt going to change. embrace the fact that it is so unique...it is so hard to come up with pretty names that are special just for your child.

I like it. It's your choice what you name your baby. Don't name her Jane just to make someone else happy. Go with what you want.

I think that other person who told you your daughter's name was strange was just jealous.. That she/he did come up with a unique name them selves. I think that your daughters name is sweet. My name is unique in that its miss spelled. And I have never met anyone who's got the same name as I do spelled the same way. Who ever told you that your daughter's name was strange was rude. I would never say that to some one. I would rather have a unique name that too have a name that every dick tom and harry had. lol. Sorry for my sarcastic tone.

I am for children having easy-to-pronounce names. Growing up, not many could pronounce either my first name or my nickname correctly. Alessandra, (Al-la-sandra, not Ohl-uh-sondra, or Allie was pronounced as Ollie). It doesnt matter if your child(ren) have names that are different from their peers. It creates their own uniqueness. It matters that you like their name and that you know they will too!

It is pretty and original. I love it. Let her know as she grows how special her name is to be different and how these differences in ppl make the world go around. Note people think my son's name is ridiculous....It is phoenix. I chose it because it was a mythical sacred creature... a fire bird....and I wanted him to blaze through life....liewise i am sure you have your rationale for it..PPl should just remember that if they can't find anything good to say....do not say anything

Her name is beautiful!! My daughters name is Makenna Raine. I hadnt heard Makenna very much before I had her and Raine just fit. My son's name is Jalani Paris. Jalani means mighty warrior and Paris means love both of which my son represents. My nephew's name is Summit Von and my neice's name is Finnley Alaynna. Unique names may sound "strange" to some people but alot of the time those are the names that people remember.

Lovely name in my opinion. It is unique not strange! My daughter's name is Maeve pronounced like May with a "v" at the end. My name was always very different (pronounced Dear-drah) and I have met very few people with the same name and I love it!

i've always been into unique, different names, so i think it's cool! i think one important thing to do (as silly as it sounds) is to try and make fun of the name. put yourself in the mindset of a child or a teenager and see what you can do to the name. my boyfriend, for instance, his last name was cox, and he got a lot of negative response from his peers due to that. the only "making fun of" that i could think of for harla is "harlot", but i don't really see a child or immature teen (bully's are immature) coming up with an uncommon word like "harlot". i think it's a good name.

well I have been spelling out my name for years as everyone assumes it is spelt the regular way! (melissa) inc. extended family but I love being different it is easy to find my things as no-one else that I know is the same!
My kids are all named for my hubby, my choices but for him! he is Shane Peter Torzillo
Our 1st born is Shanae (shu-nay) Allyse (never heard it before we chose it but now I hear it more
Our 2nd is Peter James (james being a family tradition)
3- Hayley Rose Torzillo -HRT is his fav sport team (holden racing team)
4- (this one raises eyebrows) Metallyka Louise - obviously his fav band (and yes not spelt the same but that was only due to copyright laws)
5- William Craig - his grandfathers name is William and both our dad's names are Craig, it fit really well

I love unusual girls names more than boys but I think it is easier for girls to get away with unusuall names as they get older, I love Harla! I think it is really pretty!

I like names that are a bit different. And that is a lovely name, I love it! x

i had never met anyone named McKenzie before and it was one of the main reasons my husband and I liked it so much. And I spelt it my way, The way I have been spelling it since I was a little girl naming my dolls McKenzie (lol)

I got a bad reaction from my cousin who told me it was a girls name (it unisex and was actually just for boys in th 1800's) but now whenever some hears it they say its lovely or unusual and I like that cos thats why i piked it.

(living in Ireland, there might be loads of McKenzies in other countries) xxx

I think that you shouldn't worry about what I think of her name.

You named her that, and you had your reasons. Tell them to her when she's old enough, and she will feel special that you put so much thought into naming her.

I think its pretty! Now given My sons middle and last names are common, But his first name, Lenix, isnt at all (and my spelling is ALL mine lol I hated the traditional spelling because it wasnt spelled like it sounds) I was met with VERY mixed reactions while I was pregnant, but everyone Ive met now loves it, thinks its cool and unique and atleast he always knows when he hears his name in a store that Im not yelling at some other kid lol! And just think! Atleast she can spell her name earlier on I feel bad for some of my cousins and My nephew, My Nephew is Trenton Alexander Critzer, one of my second cousins Sakura Aurora Hudson because neither of those is easy to spell everything!
