What does dark circles under the eyes mean in young children, although they seem healthy otherwise?

Sometimes my young children have darkish circles under the eyes, what possible reason can there be for that? They are healthy otherwise. Please help.

My daughter has he same issue and I have had her checked by doctors numerous times as it appears to get worse at various times throughout the year. Doctors always said nothing appears wrong and it could just be her complexion but I wasn't convinced so I discovered that other mothers had found it to be a food allergy. I started writing down our meals and snacks and compared it to when her dark circles were worse and found it was always after her eating dairy products. I changed her cows milk to goats milk and the circles have almost completely disappeared. It took about four months with very little dairy and she seems to have so much more energy and is more alert in my opinion. I believe from my research of this issue that most doctors miss what is occurring.

My daughter and I both have darkish circles under our eyes. It almost looks like our skin is transparent (my veins are pretty visible all over my body). For her it almost looks like she has two black eyes. Really awkard when someone comments on it, which people do all the time. I've always thought it had something to do with poor circulation. It's also hereditary though, my dad said my grandfather had dark circles too. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dark-ci...
