my lil boy is 19 weeks old and in the past month he has started to wake up between 4 and 5 o'clock in the mornin, is this normal as it is my first? as soon as i pick him up and sit in bed he falls straight back to sleep again but wont go back in his cot, any ideas?

At that age is when my daughter started sleeping from 9pm to 9am. Before that though she would wakeup around six, nurse for a little bit, and go back to sleep with me until 10. If you're comfortable letting him sleep in bed with you for a little while, I'd let him do that until he starts sleeping later. It wasn't more than a month or 2 that my daughter slept with me. It's a personal decision as to whether or not you want to let your child sleep with you. That was the only time my daughter slept in our bed. You could also try putting him back to sleep in the swing. My daughter took naps in her swing until she was 6 months old.

hi i have to sons both of my sons were really quick at sleeping through the night. my first son started sleeping through the night when he was 14 weeks but before that he would wake up about 5 o'clock in morning and wouldnt get back in his cot, i used to put him in his bouncer chair and put the vibrate button on and he would go striaght back asleep, as soon as he went back asleep i would turn the vibrate button off. my second son slept through from nine weeks. just dont give him a bottle when he wakes up or he will start waking up more for a bottle in the night. just try him in a bouncer chair and see if it works. good luck
