What is the best thing for a baby with a cold?

I buy pure peppermint from gnc or any vitamin store and boil it with added water. let ur daughter sit n the room w/ the peppermint. it really clears them up. Also, 'emergenC' is really good. It comes in a liquid form. Its like a shot of vitamin c. my daughter takes it with no problem.

You should go to the GP because if it isn't a virus and is bacterial it could be cleared up with antibiotics and some infections don't easily go away on their own. Plus babies are prone to ear infections which can be painful and if they go on for long periods can hold back their development the GP can easily swab to test if it is bacterial and can check for ear infection. The humidifier advice is excellent though. Does she have a temperature? Calpol and Calprofen are good for that. Vicks is good too. Good luck, it's horrible I know - my baby was sick for over a month too with a nasty virus.

Try a Johnsons and Johnsons vapor bath and of course a humidifier. And try to have the house a little cooler, it really does help. That is why hospitals are a cooler buildings because it helps you and your baby breath a little easier and it will help you with your stress level.

The sad thing is that a cold is a virus. Pretty much all you can do is let it jet on its own. Make sure she's hydrated, you can keep rubbing Vicks on her chest and back if you notice congestion, and make sure that anyone in the vicinity of baby keeps their hands clean or aren't sneezing/coughing in front of her. If you are going to use a humidifier, get one that has cold or warm options. Also watch for any changes in congestion. She might have allergies to something as well.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will try the humidifier an vicks vaporizer. May end up taking her to the doctor tomorrow

You might have to take her to the doc if its been on and off for a month, it can be some kind of infection, Good Luck

I used the vicks vaporizer for my baby. Especially at night. It worked real well. Also they have vicks vapo rub for babies. Try that too.

Try a humidifier. She may have allergies rather than a cold. I know we're fighting allergies here with the cold, damp weather we have going on. If the humidifier doesn't work I'd take her to her doctor and see if she may have allergies and see if maybe they can give her something for them. Not sure how old your little one is or even if they prescribe allergy medicine for babies, but it wouldn't hurt to try. I know I feel bad being able to treat mine and then looking at my son suffer from his symptoms. Hopefully that works and if not ask your doctor and see what else you could possibly do to help her.

i would try a humidifier i use that when my son has a cold. or you could also try turning the hot water on in the shower and let it steam. but the moist air is good. and i have also used the johnsons baby vapor bath. hope she fights that cold soon! they are no fun

Have you tried a humidifier to keep the air clean and moist? You're not doing anything wwrong
