What is the best way to break the bottle habit and go to the sippy cup?

try the nuby cups thats wut i gave my daughter... but i made her throw away her bottles and say bye to them that she was a big girl now and used big girl cups that worked....

when my daughter turned one, i grabbed every bottle in the house and put them in a box (just incase) and gave her sipper cups with soft teats on them. when she got used to holding handles i changed the soft teat cups to hard teat ones. it takes some time but she will get used to it... the older bubs get, the harder it gets so its best to start when they're about one... hope that helps a little =)

with my daughter I told her that she was a big girl now and she needed a big girl cup so I told her she needed to say good bye to her bottles and throw them away she did great with that and then we went to the store and I let her pick out what cup she wanted and she loved being the big girl, but with my son it was a lot harder I couldn’t get him off the bottle and then some one told me about nuby so I found one like the bottle and switched it out and never gave him the bottle again I guess he thought he was drinking from the bottle and never complained about it.

Basically I think all you have to do is keep trying..eventually your daughter will decide that she likes it. My daughter takes sippy cups no problem I would give it to her everyday and after about two weeks she was fine with it.. I pretended to sip it myself and she likes to copy cat that worked for me :)

What about a cup with a straw? My son wasn't really into the sippy cups with spouts, he just held the handle and banged them on the high chair. He didn't get that he had to tilt it up and suck to get the liquid out because of the valve and when I took it out he just made a mess. Someone suggested the cup with the straw because he's breastfed and drinking through a straw mimics the sucking action of nursing. Plus, I drink through a straw and everything Mommy does or has Baby wants too! So I got him some cups with straws and all I had to do was put the straw in his mouth and squeeze the cup a little so he could taste the juice and he got the hang of it real quick. It's easier for him too, he doesn't have to pick the cup up and tilt it. He's a pro at it now, and he's only 8 months old! Your daughter is adorable, BTW!

my son did the same thing, i took his bottles away from him and would not give them back i made him take the cup, until he gave in and now he loves the cup

find a cup thatshe likes such as her favorite cartoon character on it....something she can relate to and give only in the day and once you feel she is accustomed to it then you can try taking the bottle away at nite and replacing it with cup. Allow her to see you put her favorite drinks in the bottle let her know that its a big girl cup because shes a big girl i even had to drink out my little ones cup because she wanted whatever i had

with my daughter i gave her the sippy that has the silacone top like a bottle then grualy change it to regualar sippy. my daughter took to the sippy at 6 months.

honestly we tried so many things then one day i just said forget it. and all he got was a sippy cup. she will take it eventualy because there is nothing else.

You put nothing but milk in the bottle and you put something sweet in the cups. ( juice, tea ect.. )

I have a Nuby 3-stage bottle with a nipple, and then a soft tip. I guess the third stage is just an open top? LOL I don't know. But I tried switching to the soft tip and my son was having none of it. The funny part is that he has other sippy cups with hard spouts that he'll use with no problem. He also likes to drink out of a real cup, and though he wants to do it himself, he can't just yet.

have you tried the nuby cups? they use the soft nipple that acts like a bottle nipple, my ona love those cups.
