what to do when your baby hates the carseat

she used to love the carseat. im beginning to think because we are in the process of moving from 2 hours away that the drive back and forth got to her. but she doesn't really cry on those rides. just the 30 minute rides. i'll have to try the mirrors and what not. and unfortunately i don't have a radio or cd player to play for her. my car is crap. but i depend on my ipod to drain out the noise because its so distracting.

It is an unfortunate stage at that age. My daughter went through it as well. Sometimes a toy hanging is a good enough distraction, but others, they will just scream. Try playing the baby Einstein cd's in the car. It helps a little.

My daughter was the same. She would work herself up so much when in the car and the pram. Thankfully at 4mths she is heaps better, we still have our of days but it is nothing compared to what she used to be like. Some one suggested to me that their are metal rods you can buy from car shops that stop motion sickness. Apparantly you just hang it in the car? I never tried it as Charlie was better by then but it may be worth looking into?

My daughter is 7 months old and has done it since day one. We have tried three different types of carseats with no luck. I have tried sitting in the back with her, mirrors and everything She just doesn;t like it. Sometimes I can get her to sleep with an Elvis song. But it doesnt work everytime. Good luck! Sometimes we have to do things we hate as parents that will make our babies cry, but its for the best. Thats the only thing I try to think about when I have to put my little Ella in her car seat.

What type of carseat do yiou have. My son screamed in his carseat for the first 5 month then we move him out of the bucket seatcar intt a rear facing convertable seatsit and the day we did that he stop screaming. I guess the postion is better for him.

I feel your pain..my daughter is about to be three months and she just now will sit in her seat and not cry. I just think she had to get used to it.

We had to add a little bit of extra padding to my son's carseat (just where his butt laid), and that worked.

I feel ur stress my daughter is 4 weeks and in the same phase we tried the mirror and it didnt help but hopefully she grows out of it fast

Oh as far as advice for drives...do you have amirrior for the back seat. We had one for our son at that age and it was shaped like a frog and he loved looking at it and we were able to see him from our mirrior in to this one. We loved it as we have family 8 hours away...

She will grow out of this stage. I watched a little girl since she was 9 months old and up until that time she hated ehr seat! She was just in waaaaay too tight. I'm not saying to losen her but just check to make sure the straps aren't digging in under her chin or something simple like that. My son hated it at her age as well and he is now 2 and loves going for drives! It's just a phase:) Thank god!
