what ways are there that actually work to tell what the sex of the baby is??

When I was pregnant with my baby girl she nestled herself up in my ribs the whole pregnancy, had to fight for breath sometimes.
When I was pregnant with my son he nestled himself down in my hips, they ached and I could barely lift my legs up to go up stairs. Heh, thats the way it was with my Grandma too, maybe that helps?

LOL. Buy green, white, orange, yellow stuff until the baby is born. I got presents before my kid was born and then after he was born people brought heaps of blue IT'S A BOY stuff over aswell.

i think you can yet gender predictor test from the chemist (well you can in australia) but they are really expensive and ive heard that they are not always accurate

I think she should be happy with what she gets regardless of the sex. A healthy baby is a blessing and some people can't even get prego. But for her happiness I hope she has a girl. Let nature take its course. Tell her good luck!

The only way to know for sure is the amniocitosis (sp?) where they take amniotic fluid and test it for the gender. It isn't 100% safe, there is a chance for miscarriage from it. Another way that is almost 100% sure is an ultrasound. Other than that there is no way to know for sure.

There's really no 100% sure way to know. I had all girls and each of my pregnancies was completely different, so IMO that blows any old wives tales out of the water ;)

If I was you (or your friend), I'd just get gender neutral clothing. Greens, yellows, teal, etc. Plus you can NEVER have enough plain white onsies :) Also, baby compaines are getting better about gender neutral bed sets, stroller sets, car seats, etc. We knew we were having a girl the first time around, but we still bought a gender neutral stroller set (teal and brown with little 60's deco flowers) and we were able to use it for all our kids - no matter the gender (even though they all turned out to be girls. lol).

even ultrasounds aren't 100% accurate. and old wives tales are nothing more than guesses... there's a 50/50 chance anyways lol
We didn't find out with either of our kids, but I "knew" both times what we were having. Mothers intuition I guess you could call it. Ask your friend what her gut tells her... bet you she's right.

ultrasound. I had 3 boys I carried each one differently (first was low second was super high and the 3 was just big.) they each had different heart rates and each of the 3d ultrasounds looked so different. Ultrasound is your only way my friend

I had a regular ultrasound done and found out what i was having no problem! as for old wives tales i have no faith in them!

LOL nothing can tell you what your having till you give birth. Even the ultrasound (which is pretty accurate) still SOMETIMES gets it wrong but the ultrasounds your best bet if you want to know while your pregnant.

I spent the first half of my first pregnancy feeling like i was having a boy, i did all the old wives tales tricks and they all said boy, ultrasound said girl. Gave birth to a girl LOL.

If you want to try something fun, try the chinese gender predictor chart (just search for it). I have heard that it is pretty good at knowing what sex you'll have BUT remember it's not necessarily true.

If you are talking about all those wives tales such as dangling string over your belly button and if it makes circles its a boy type things, then no..There is no way...The only way is an ultrasound and even that isn't 100% guaranteed...My friend was told she was having a boy painted nursery blue, bought all boys stuff then had...a girl!
