Whats with older people?

they say these things to be helpful in there own type of way but always remember your the mom and it comes natral to know what you can and cannot do. :)

I feel the same way, and I actually laugh at it. Us younger women are more knowledgeable when it comes to different ways of raising kids, because of the internet and sites like this where mothers come for support. Back in the older days the mothers did not have the kind of support we have, and yet they think we dont know what we are doing.

I mean its not like i didnt do me research. this is my first baby and i want to do everything right. i have my doctors on speed dial to ask questions lol. even when we went out at three days my doctor assured me that it was perfectly fine. i just dont know what to say to people when they try to give me their "advice". my grandmother even told me off for not getting my son circumcised.

i got the same reaction when i had to go to the grocery store the day i came home from the hospital with my son, as soon as we left the hospital he decided he wasn't latching anymore so i went and bought a thing of formula, i got so many dirty looks and 'omg u shouldn't have a baby that young out like this' i ignored them, you have to do what's best for your baby and the rest of the world (even myself at times) needs to realize every child and every mother are different, every situation is different, one thing that will always be the same is how stubborn everyone is about their opinions, i say just try your best not to want to squish all the overly pushy annoying ones lol

I absolutely feel the same way. But the way I see it is you know what is best for your child not them. Just because your a young mom doesn't mean your dumb or should be treated like you are. I guess some people are just know it alls

Well they're most likely not trying to make you out to be an immature or a not so knowledgeable mom, they're just trying to give you good advice like other mothers did to them when they were new moms as well. I know that the advice can get overwhelming and annoying at times but they most likely just have the best interest of your baby at heart but trust I know exactly how you feel. Although I do agree with an outing at three days old is a little young but that's just me but do what you feel is best for your child and that's that:-) Good luck!!

Same thing here. I wish I knew. The only think I can think of is different generations. Do what YOU feel is the right choice. You are the one raising your son. Not them. Good luck!

They'll never stop! I had older people tell me I was a bad mother because I had to bottle feed my 1st son because I had medical issues. Then for my second son when at the doctors office and my son got hungry I would use the nursing cover I had to cover myself up and sneak my son under it to feed him while I waited and some older people told me that I was being a bad mother because I was whipping my boob out in public to feed my son. Urgh I never win and now I just look at them and ask them if they would like to raise my kids for me they usually say how rude and walk away.
