I've been using distilled water when giving my baby formula, but it's starting to get really expensive... I just wanted to know when I can start giving her regular tap water with her formula!! It would be so much easier and less expensive! Please Help!

***Sorry I forgot to add in there.. she's 2 months and 3 weeks now

My doctor said it's fine to use tap water. Unless you live in an area where the water supply isn't totally safe, which is incredibly rare in the U.S., it's perfectly fine. Well water is a bit more iffy and it's usually recommended you get well water tested before using it for baby formula.

Normally from 6 months old it's ok to give them tap water. You could just give it a go keep an eye on her if she has any tummy troubles just boil it.

My son is 6 months old.. we have been using Distilled water from the day he came home from the hospital. Now I'm thinking it is time to start using Tap water. I'm pretty sure my older son was 6 months old when we stopped the Distilled water too, But I don't remember. I would say wait longer, 2 months is too young to use Tap water.

Boil the water on the stove and put it in a clean pitcher or u can buy one of those filters that u put on the faucet to make make sure all the harsh chemicals are out. I only bought nursery water with my first child because she was a preemie, but with my other 2 once the hit the 4 month age I stop and gave tap water and they been fine ever since.

We were doing the same thing, but then we decided on a water filter. It's much cheaper and easier than the bottles.

I only gave my kids tap water with their formula at 1year old. But after having tests done on boiled tap water I got the water purifying system that is screwed onto your tap. My twins got alot of stomach cramps when I started using tap water at 1years old. I don't think that tap water is good for anyone let alone a child. But if you have no other choice and your tap water is of a reasonable quality I would only suggest at around 1year old.

Yeah, if you are using "city water" it's actually the best thing to use because it has fluoride added into it. My doctor did tell me that it was best to use cold and not hot, and let it run for at least 20 seconds to let the impurities run out first.

Where are you living? If you have a good healthy water supply boiled tap water should be fine, otherwise maybe have a water filter installed which would be much cheaper in the long run.

from birth? there's no reason why you can't use tap water. Well Water is different, you can't use well water ... city water is fine.
