Mine started sleeping through the night around 3 months, thanks to the book Baby Wise, it's amazing! I got a copy on ebay for $1! And it has been a lifesaver!

maybe the baby is not getting satisfied with just formula try adding like a teasppon or two of cereal to your babies formula jsut at night time and that might help. my dr suggested it to me when my son was a baby some dr's dont suggest this becasue they say it causes obesity but my son turned out just fine and as long as u are only giving a little bit at night time in the bottle everything will be ok.

Get him on a routine. My son started sleeping through the night at 2 months by setting up a rountine for EVERYNIGHT. Feeding, Bath then Bed. But you have to be consistent.

I can't wait either, we are at about 2 times a night (going down around 11p/11:30p, waking up at 3a, 6a and then she'll wake up about 9am to play and eat. Trying to get her to go down earlier but that's been a mission.

Being a mom of 10 month old twins I have had it from both sides. My two boys still don’t sleep through. And I just started thinking about this whole situation. WE EXCPECT TO MUCH FROM A BABY. I mean think about this. They are so new in this world. They don’t know why they feel so bad or why something hurts or why do they feel cold. They don’t know, but us as parents just expect them to know these things. Sure I would LOVE to have a good night sleep every night, and yes now the last 3 months we have only been getting up once maybe twice . But the fact remains, some parents are very lucky and their little ones sleep through, but always remember, this is not going to last forever. At one point you won’t remember what it was like holding a baby that weight. My one boy is now standing up against everything. This is the last thing I thought will happen, and what hurts now, is the fact that I wished them to just be bigger and not having to deal with all these little problems. Now I regret it coz that time is gone, and I never really cherished those tin little babies.

I know every baby is different but a few mums told me about the book 'Save our sleep'. This is a really really helpful book! I totally recommend it!
Tips like "At night time use dim lights so baby starts to understand night and day"
"try not to stimulate baby too much at night"
"if its the exact same time every night, his biological clock may be stuck, try letting him cry for 10min and see if he settles himself back to sleep"
There is also example routines that i recon help aswell.
Doesn't hurt to try ;) Good luck x

My baby girl started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. It is a lot to explain so I would definitely suggest getting the book "On becoming Baby Wise, Sleeping through the night". It has worked for me and a friend of mine. If you get the book, I hope it helps!

My little girl will be 8wks on Monday and she just started sleeping from 11pm-5am a few days ago. I made her last feeding of the night 5ozs and that seems to hold her off long enough. I also interact alot with her throughout the day and she is up for a couple hrs at a time before she takes a nap.

My son is 6 weeks and his average sleeping pattern depending on when he falls asleep is 9pm-3am...eats, then sleeps from 4 am-7am. OR 11pm-4am...diaper change then 4am-6am. My mom told me her trick and that was to keep them awake as much as possible during the day, be very active...keep lights on. If he has a nap its usually for 30 min-1 hr. At night have it calmer and darker. I Nurse and pump my milk. I nurse mainly during the day then at night I have a bottle ready thats nice and warm with maybe a couple ounces more of milk than the daily feeding. I agree with waiting to put cereal in the milk untill 4-6 months of age. It can cause weight and health issues. Take your time feeding and burping to insure baby is full and not gassy. Tickle the chin when they start falling asleep eating. A baby will keep his mouth shut when he's full or continuously spit out the nipple. If they are full and not gassy they sleep better. I also found...A warm bath at night helps too.

If i try to put my 5 month old son to sleep earlier than 9 oclock he will wake up about 3-4 times (not for feeding) but if he goes to sleep between 9 and ten (which he is used to) he will usually sleep till about 7am have a feed then go back down untill 9 - 10 am

well this might sound crazy for a 2 month old but you cam mix apple juice and cereal together just think enough not to come out of a feeder to fast... it fills them up so they don't wake up for feeding... i start my son on a feeder at 1 month and that is when he started sleepin through the night... formula didn't fill him up and he always woke up in the middle of the night for a bottle.... cereal can constipate a baby but if u mix it with apple juice it prevents that

My son is 8 weeks old now and has been sleeping through the night since he was about 3 weeks old. It really is about setting a routine. I feed him every night at 10 pm even if he takes only 2 ozs. (he usually takes 5 at a feeding). I keep the tv off and lights and try to be as quiet as possible. After he is done I lay him in bed and he sleeps until 5 or 5:30 am. It's not bad-beats getting up at 2 or 3 am to feed him. If he's kinda restless I try to give him a bath before hand to relax him. Good luck!

My son just turned three months on the 28th and the first time he slept through the night was the 20th. But since he was born he only has woken up once during the night. So it's just different for every baby. Are you breast feeding or using formula?

Haha. This made me laugh because I remember thinking the saaame thing. My daughter would get up constantly at night to eat and I swear she did not start to sleep through the night until she was over a year..she was still getting up 2-3 times. She's always been really small though and a snacker so she was never full in the middle of the night..it was ever so fun. I guess it just depends on the bebe, I hope yours is easier on you tho then mine was on me lol.

I still wake up usually once in the night for a drink and sometimes a wee and i'm 30 years old so I don't think its unreasonable for someone of any age especially a child to wake up in the night. So until my girl is old enough to get her own water in the night I will be waking up to help her ;-)

It all depends on his needs! I have three and they all slept through the night at different ages. The best advice I ever got was with my third. When the baby wakes up at night, change his diaper quick, don't turn on the brightest lights, keep the lights soft. Try not to play with him at night, feed him and put him back to bed when he falls asleep. I did this with my youngest, it took about two weeks, but he started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old. The idea about not playing with the baby at night is teaching them that play time is during the day. Play with them during the day will help teach them as well. Sleeping through the night is a learning process. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I have a 6 week old (as of today) and last week I took her for a walk in her stroller in the evening and she slept 7 hours that night.....last night I took her for another walk out side by the way and she slept for 8 hours. I read the air and sunshine even cloudy days helps them sleep better.....at least it tends to for her....I don't know what to tell ya when the snow starts flying though...give it a try!

If you are breastfeeding your baby might not sleep through the night until it is a year old. At that point you should start letting them get back to sleep on their own.

You have a ways to go. Just function under the assumption that you are never going to sleep again then when you do its like a pleasant surprise bonus. In the mean time make sure the baby is going to sleep full and he would sleep better in bed with you.

My son is 5 months and he started to sleep through the night since he was 2 months, give him a bath an hour before bed time. Do not wake him up to feed him and do not change diapers during the night. We started on solids at his 4 month and I started to add and tablespoon of rice cereal to his last bottle that way he goes to sleep happy and full. Hope this can help you. Good luck

Sarah you are not alone on this one. I've been wondering when my little man would sleep throught the night as well. My son is 6 wks old and my husband is overseas so I am up and down all night long. It is wearing me out. I've tried everyone's tricks and I think its just when he's good and ready he will. To make matters worse I think he might even have his days and nights mixed up b/c he seems to sleep longer during the day.

it depends on the baby really. Some moms have it luckier than others. My daughter woke up a lot when she was newly born but after a while she only got up two times a night. at around 2 months she started sleeping through the night. Sometimes she has her off days and ends up waking up at 5 am maybe. I guess the best thing to do is to get your baby on a schedule that might encourage them to sleep better during the night. My daughter sleeps two times a day, if she's being good. And I usually let her play and wiggle around to get her exhausted and then give her a bath, read her a book, brush her gums, feed her and then lay her down in bed. That usually puts her out really quick especially if she's sleepy enough for it. And teaching them to put themselves to sleep also helps.

Are you nursing? My first son, whom I didn't nurse but 3 months started sleeping through the night at 5-6 months, my second son, whom i nursed exclusivly for 15 months, didn't sleep through the night till he was weaned. now he does, and he is 21 months old. it all depends on the child, but i would say not until your no longer nursing if you are. good luck. these years go by so quickly, so while you're tired now, you'll miss it and forget how hard it was in a year or so. good luck!
