when do your pregnancy clothes fit again?

Ugh...I had my baby 8 weeks ago and, for the first time yesterday, I decided to try on some pre-preg clothes to see what fits. To my dismay, hardly anything! I've lost most the weight, but definitely have that "stretched out look" in my abdomen.....is it time to go clothes shopping? Anyone else been in this boat?

I'd suggest buying a few "in-between" stage clothes and wait a few months and see. It's true the belly never quite seems the same, from what I hear and what I experience (but my kids will only be 1 year and 9 mos. apart), but your waist WILL come back, and you will get skinnier, but it seems to take time. My gosh, I wasn't even at my pre-preg weight by the time I got pregnant again--I had 4 pounds to go. I think you're just being hard on yourself as we all are.

I purchased some 'adult' jeans- ie, not low rise, after baby. I actually went down a size, but the low rise are really really uncomfortable after having children because the skin isn't really the same. But when did I fit? Almost as soon as I started wearing real pants- about three months (both times- I am pregnant with my 3rd and will have 3 under 3) ;) Give yourself time for the pelvic bones to slip back to their size and for your body to regulate itself. Remember the rule 9 months on 9 months off. It took 9 months for your body to change, give it 9 months or so for it to go back (or almost back).

I feel your pain. I had 3 kids. My body was never the same after my first. I did "bounce back" to my normal weight but my belly never returned to normal. Now I am preggers with number 4 ( with a 6month old) I am only 13 weeks and already popping out! OMG! Anyway, the only thing I know to do is cardio, and watch the starchy foods. Do work outs that help tione your tummy muscles back to "normal" But know, that "normal" will never be the same once you have a baby. Sad, but true. But that doesnt mean you cant get in shape :)

it depends. if you're still keeping steady on the path of losing weight, just suffer through a little bit longer of wearing early maternity clothes or else coming to terms with a "muffin top." buying new shirts to hide it can help. but if you're absolutely determined and making progress towards getting back to your prepreg weight, don't spend extra money on pants you'll only need for awhile. if you must, go to a thrift store or Goodwill, so at least you're not spending top dollar, and you can always donate it back.
