When is it okay to move your baby out of your bedroom?

my oldest was a year old when he went in his own room my two children after that went in to there own room at about 6 weeks old so its realy up to you at a year and a half he should be ok to go in with his brother

Our son (who is almost 8 mos) has slept in his room from 4 days old. He's never had a problem in there and our room is just across from his so we can hear him clearly and have a monitor in the kitchen for the daytime. Only do what you feel comfortable with. Trial it and see how it goes, but yes only thing is hope the baby doesn't wake the other boys up! Good luck! I think I'll be battling this in the next few years too as we only have a smallish house and when the next kids come along may have to double up

we still have our son in our room at 5 mos. hes my first baby tho. i am so attached. his daddy wants to move him to his own room when he sleeps thru the night, but as of right now, our son wakes up every few hours and is usually wide awake at 6am. he is totally breastfed. i dont want to have to leave my room 3 or 4 times in the night to feed him.

It should be safe, if he doesn't disturb your other 2 boys to much, I don't see a problem.

Do whatever makes you comfy. I never had my daughter in our room and would be up all night checking on her and during the day would spend my time sitting in her room making sure she was ok. I was very scared about SIDS. So this time we are going to put our son (due in 5wks!!!!) in a basinett in our room and move him around the house in it during the day so he will always be with me in the hopes it helps me to not freak out so much.

i had my son in my room juntil he was 3 and half months old, he sleeps in a room which is shared with his sister who is now 3 years old

My son has been sleeping in his own room since he was 2 1/2 months old and actually sleeps better in there than he ever did in my room. I think it's fine, you can still hear him and it doesn't sound like it's far to go in the middle of the night. As long as your other boys are okay with it and it won't conflict in that way I don't see the problem. Good luck!

I know I would definately not be comfortable with that but I guess it's up to you. My kids sleep in my room until at least 6 months of age and I would worry about them waking each other up.

Do it whenever you are comfortable with it. If you aren't comfortable without him close by, then keep him with you a while longer. If you are comfortable with it, then do it as soon as you like. However, the other thing to consider is whether the baby's sleep patterns will disturb your other 2 children, or if theirs will disturb his. I decided to keep my daughter in our room until 12 months, simply because I wanted to keep her close so that I always knew exactly how she was - just being able to hear her breathing was a comfort to me. Now she is 16 months, and still in our room! This is only because we have not yet got an airconditioner for her room and our house is too hot without it. She is definately ready for her own room though, as she wakes up during the night and because she can see me, she won't go back to sleep on her own. And with another baby on the way, I also want her in her own room long before it arrives so that she won't feel she is being kicked out to make room for the new baby. I am not sure if I will keep the new baby in with us for the whole 12 months or not, but I'll definately do it for at least 6 months.

Our little one moved into his own room at 5 weeks old. He slept with his arms out straight to the sides so he was getting squished up in his cradle and needed to go into his cot. He was fine. :-)

I had my girls moved out of my room as soon as they went from the bassinet to the crib! I had issues with breastfeeding in the middle of the night but we got them in their own bed and own room ASAP! I did not want them to get used to sleeping with us! and it seems to be a lot better than my brother n his wife who still have a 9 yr old in their room!!!! GL!!! :D

my daughter went into her room at about 2 months old after we moved out of my parents house where were sharing a room, she settled in to her own space and new cot as had previously been in the moses basket within 4 days ans slept right through after the first couple of days

We kept both our kids in our room for about the first 5 months. With my son it was because we were in a 1 bedroom when he was born. lol! He slept like a champ though and I was able to sleep great to because I could hear every peep. With my daughter it was more because she had such bad colic (we were in a 3 bedroom when she was born, thank goodness. lol) she was up 4 or 5 times just between 1am and 7 am so it was the only way I could get any amount of rest.

You just need to trust your instincts, if you don't feel ready to move him then hold off a couple months and see how you feel then.

Also keep in mind that even little things like changing rooms can change the sleeping habits of older kids too... I might suggest moving your older boys first and give them a bit of time before you add a baby who might be crying in the night.

I moved my son into his own room at 11 months. My reasons: 1) SIDS peaks at 4-6 months so I wanted to make sure he was right beside my bed then. 2) I think it goes against our evolution to have baby so far at night. 3) It made getting up to nurse him at night WAY easier.



But whatever you feel comfortable with.

With my daughter she slept in my room beside my bed until she was almost 9 months old. When I moved, a relative felt that because she was almost 2 months old she should be in her own room. My mother told me the best advice: Move baby out when you're comfty, you should watch moving them too late(like 2 or whatever), but if you're not ok and you're running into their room to check on them every 5 minutes it doesn't help. I know of a woman who moved her twins out as soon as the company left the spare room(11 days), In the end, do whatever makes you feel comfortable, there is no definite right or wrong. You're the Mom and you know if he can handle it :D

I think that would be fine with a baby monitor- those things are grrreat! And that way u could also keep tabs on the other boys as well haha!

I think you'll see experts give you a wide variety of responses from move them out of the bedroom as soon as possible to keep them in your bed as long as possible. I think you just have to do what's right for your family and for the baby. If he's sleeping anyways and he won't wake up his siblings in the middle of the night then I would feel ok.

IMO I think it would be a great idea. My daughter is 7 months old an dher crib is still in our room, we tried it in her room and she slept fine, mommy on the other hand not so much. She is my first and daddy works nights wo I just like her in there with me. I would say do it asap otherwise u will be like me and have a 7 month old in a crib in ur room. Nevaeh has slept through the night since we brought her home, so there was never any need for her to be in our room, but i got used to it, I need to tranistion her in to her own room soon! I KNOW HAHA BUt i love her in there haha im horrible

Personally, I think he would probably be fine, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't. My son slept with us until he was finished nursing at about 9 months.....And that was only because I told my husband I didn't feel comfortable with him sleeping in his own room. My husband wanted him to have his own room but I was so nervous and uneasy about it I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sleep if we did that. I say follow your instincts. :)

I think it is fine to put him with the other two, he's a good sleeper and you ahve a baby monitor, it is perfectly fine I believe. Plus, a lot of parents put newborns in a different bedroom you know? I am about to have another baby and I am planning on keeping him in my room till he sleeps through the night, then putting him in the same room as my daughter. Hope this helps!! :)

Absolutely!! I moved my son into his own room at 2 weeks and he did great. I left the doors open so I could easily hear him when he woke up and it was great to have his bed moved out of our room.

You can move him whenever you feel comfortable doing so. The only things to consider are whether he's going to disturb his brothers, and if it's going to be significantly more difficult for you (or your husband) to walk over to the other room when he wakes up at night.

He doesnt sleep through the night at all! He usually wakes up around 1-1:30 and again around 4-4:30 than not again until about 8am..

My son is two months old and has slept in his own room at night since he was about nine weeks old!!!! He has always been a good sleeper at night and only gets up once usually around 4:30-5:30am....

It really depends on what you feel comfortable with. When we have our second child, the child will start by sleeping in the room with our 2 year old son. We just don't have space to put the crib in our room, and we aren't about to spend money on something we'll only use a few times.

I kept my son in our roo until he was about 3 months old and he actually began sleeping through the night about 6 days after he was born. But I also had him at Christmas time and our room was much warmer than his room. About 3 months is when he stopped needing swaddled so that's when we moved him out to his own room.

I wouldn't see a problem with that. We are planning on when the new baby starts sleeping thru the night putting him in with our other son. Good luck!
