My answer is gonna be different from most on here and some may think it's wrong..but it's wrong for their children..not mine... but I started all 3 of my children on rice cereal at 2 weeks through the feeder bottle. Doctors do say it's not ideal but I was told by the 3 different drs I had after each kid that it's not bad for them..just not preferred. My 3 kids, now ages 10, 8 and 3 are fine, healthy kids. I even know several people who do the same with theirs. That's not to say its ok for all kids..but with mine it was. And if I ever decide to have another, I will prolly look to doing the same. Just follow your "mommy" instinct..you'll know

they recomment 4 month at leeast due to the fact that the baby will take less milk when being given food and a baby of that age needs the right amound of milk to get all they need to ggrow .... but they are changing it soon to not recomend befor 6 months x

Actually my sister told me along with other people that at 2 months which my baby is can start eating baby cereal. The only thing is to make sure it comes out the bottle right and to watch them when they eat.

Just from my experience, both of my kids let me know when they were ready for cereal. My pediatrician said that as long as they were handling it ok that it would be fine. The best advice is to listen to your "mommy instinct" and you will do fine.

Well the standard nowadays is 6 months. But I started my son Logan on Rice Cereal at 4 months, he was eating 8oz every 4 hours regularly from about 2 months, then around 4 months he started acting really hungry every 3 hours. I tried just a little rice cereal one day, and he LOVED it. He smiled and made Mmmmm noises as he ate it! It was so cute. And since then he began sleeping soundly. (before this he would get up a few times a night, but I didn't mind, I wasn't giving him food to sedate him, but to make his little tummy happy) Every baby is different. BUT I think 2 months is much too early. Continue with either breast feeding or formula feeding for now, baby is too young and could choke on food at this stage.

i started my son at 3months, he is now almost 9months, and loves his food, he has almost anything, but as long as it doesnt have dairy products or egg products in it, their little tummies cant process that until 12months

I agree...If you are breastfeeding you can wait longer the baby food but start out slow. Ask your Pediatrician. I know some people do the rice thing but your baby is not ready to digest anything but breastmilk or formula no matter what size they are. After 4 months you can mix small amount in their bottle ( make sure it is not too thick and is liquid) and gradually make it into a meal for the little one. When the doc ok's it for you you can try mixing the cereal with baby food or add a little formula or breastmilk to it to make it easier to swallow. Please ask the Doc but 2 months is way too young

between 4-6 months, they usually say the first 6 months should be milk only but new studies say that starting them a little earlier can help with allergies and also gets them into the practice of eating... but stick to the rice or cereals. i started my little one at 4 months because she was so intrested in it i only give it to her once a day and started with a little bit and made a little bit more for her each day... but every baby is different and you should ask your gp if you want to start the baby before 4-6 months,

I only gave it to him at night so he can sleep better. and i started baby food at 3 months but ill only give it to him here and there. not too often. hes almost 4 months old and when hes 4 months ill start spoon feeding him. I cant wait! lol

i wondering should i start giving ceral or food to a two monthold?

hi, in experience an much research for my own kids i have found that it is much better for your baby to not start solids until he or she is 4 months old, as this can caus digestive and stomach problems later on. Out of my 3 kids i started my daughter around 3 months and she has more tummy problems than i care to explain and has also developed asthma , this could be coincidence or not. The other two started solids at 4 months and have no problems at all.

WIth my first two kids, I started them on cereal at about 3-5 months, it helped them sleep thru the night and filled them up. They may gain a little weight, but when they start crawling and walking later they will lose all that weight, trust me mine did.

My son is now almost 4 months. He's been sleeping through the night 12+ hours since 1-1.5 months. We did not start him on food to help him sleep- as it's proven it doesnt work. However he started stage 1 cereal at 3 monnths and stage 2 cereal at 3.5 months. at 4.5 months I plan on starting him on stage 3 cereal and at 5 months on jar baby food.

Never mix cereal in a baby bottle.

I didn't start my daughter until she was 6 months because thats what my peditrician recommended because of developing allergies. I say talk to you doctor and do what you feel is right for your little one. You will get alot of mixed reviews on this lol.

Its more, when your baby is giving signs they are ready then a set age. My doc told me breast milk does not have enough iorn in it. That when a baby is born they have a store of iron that will carry them through to 6mths and that by 6mths they need to be having iron enriched foods . 6 months is the very latest that you should start food.

Everybody is different but I was told 4 months for cereal and I started just before that and my daughter did great. I was also told not to start and baby food until 6 months but I started at 5 months. She was ready! They say starting them too early can cause allergies to some of the baby foods. Personally I think its okay to start a little earlier than told if you think you baby is ready, just not way before you are supposed to:)

My doctor told me cereal is fine. Do not put cereal in the bottle though. Cereal in the bottle can cause digestion problems. I would start off with a little at a time. I wouldn't give your baby food until 4 or 5 months though. You don't know what they can handle at that age yet. Hope this helps. ; )

you can put rice cereal in her bottle and that will help fill her up more. The doctor started my son on this when he was two weeks old. By the time he was 4 months he was eating baby foodand by the time he was 6 months old he was eating mashed potatoes and noodles. I did it based on what he seemed ready for and he is a very healthy 10 month old now. So it didnt hurt any. He was hungry all the time so formula just wasnt enough.

i was reccomended 4.5months from my doc. and you can start only one kind of ceral or fruit (except grapes) in a mashed form for atleast 3 weeks than you can introduce another taste or flavour to your baby

personally my son was3 months, had all the cues, and we started it twice daily (he was sleeping through the night 12+ hours since 3 weeks already. At 3.5 months he moved to step 2 cereals and tonight he's 6 days from being 4 months, he sat up on his own for the first time.

It all depends on if your Baby isn't getting satisfied with it's formula it is ok to give your baby Ceral mix it with some formula cut a big X in the nipple and feed it to the baby especially at night so the little one can sleep all through the night i did it with both my kids it really helped but it is really up to you and you can always talk to your babys Doctor and see what it has to say

i wouldn't recommend giving a two month old it. My pedi said nothing but formula until 4 months old then you can do the rice cereal and then 6 months give him baby food. Every baby is different but most children that have food allergies have them because their parents started them on food too early!

the doctors say baby food at 4 months, and cereal at 6. i gave my son cereal bottles at night to help him sleep at 3 weeks, and food at 2 months. the doctors said that he was a very healthy baby and he grew like a weed. watch out for constipation with ceral bottles, and just go off of what your baby wants. if formula wont fill him up, try some veggies before a bottle. if he hates it, try again the next month. your baby will let you know if it is too early for something.

I've done quite a bit of research on this topic because everyone I know was telling me that cereal makes babies sleep longer. I found that there have been a lot of studies done that prove that the longer you can go without giving you baby anything besides milk or formula, the less chance they have of getting food allergies or obesity when they are older. My daughter is 6mos and is still on just brest milk, and she is doing great.

Cereal at 3 months baby foods at 4 1/2 months but only one at a time to make sure no allergic reaction veggies first one food for 3 days and just start adding. No mix foods until 6 months(apples-bananas) eventually they can have for breakfast cereal plus a fruit. Lunch veggie and a fruit Dinner cereal veggie and fruit makes a good balanced meals

I started both my daughter who is now 8 and my son who is now 5 months on ceral at 2 weeks old due to very bad acid relux. My ped. advised me to do this. Only like 1 table spoon in 2oz of formula. But doing this made both of them eat way more really soon. When I started giving the ceral it about stopped alot of the issues I had with them. My son now had been eating baby food since he was 3 months old. I think it all depends on the child and what your ped recommends for you. Every child is different and my not be ready at this time. Thank goodness mine were able to digest the ceral and baby food with out any problem. Good luck to you!
