My son Kolby is 3 and he can start Head-Start next year. I'm not sure if I should put him in Head-Start at 4 because he'll have to be there for 2 years. What should I do?

Put him in he'll enjoy it. Or if you're not sure about the head start program look into a part time preschool. A lot of churches usually do a half day preschool from 9-12 and then you can have the rest of the afternoon together. My daughter is a December baby so she'll almost be 6 when she starts kindergarten. She's been in day care since 4 months and will hopefully be able to start in the 3 year old preschool class next January after turning 3. She's very advanced for a 28 month old and even though we work with her at home, she also learns a lot at school.

My son will be 5 yrs old in May and he started Pre-k the beganing of the school year this year at age 4 :), he only goes 2 hours a day, I taught him every thing at home before he began but he is going over every thing again now in school.. The only reason I put my son in school was because we dont have alot of support/family here and he needed to be more socialized with other children his own age!!! Also I am a stay at home mother so it is easier to work around the hours with every thing!! My daughter is 17 months now but when she is 4 yrs old I will also put her in Pre-k.. I think it helps ALOT with our situation and it gives me a much needed break after having both kids 24/7 with never a break LOL But I think its all personal choice and you as Kolbys mum will know and do the best for him and his needs ♥ Wish you the best of luck.. God bless ox

What is head start? I have never heard of that before? Is it the same as Junior Kindergarten?

Put him in! It's the best thing you can do for him. My son has been in since he was 2 (he is 4) and he knows alphabets, numbers, drawing, and talking so much. He will be ready for school when he is five. head start is good cause they get to be social with kids as well. You can never give to much education to your kids. I am for it 100%.

Well my fist question is why wouldn't you want to put him in? At 3 he should be ready as long as you and him and comfortable with that decision. Also head start is a great program so I would utilize it. My childs birthday falls around Nov. so she will be 5 almost 6 when she gets to kindergarten. She is only 5 months old but goes to the preschool nursery that I work at while I work. She loves it and is very young. So I think if she enjoys it and all the kids that I work with seem to love it and learn so much that your child would prob. love it as well. Might have a rough start leaving Mommy at first but most do. Again if you think you are ready for him then I think this next year would be a great time for him to start. Good luck!
