When to get the first haircut???

my daughter is 3 and i want to get it trimed just a little but i asked her if she would be ok with it and she screams and crys sayng no don't cut my hair so if your daughter is ready to and will let someone do it and if you are ready to i would do it cause i am still not wanting to cut her hair but i think i still would if she would let anyone

my son was prabably about 11 months when i did but i had to because it was in his eyes and it was annoying him. i jus gave him a little trim around the edges after i took him out of the bath. i gave him a little toy to play with while i did it so he wouldnt move to much.

With my daughter we did it for her 3rd Birthday Because she asked for it, with my son he was about 8mth and it should have been done at about 4mths cause he had sooo much. his now 16mths and had like 3or 4 total....

Ha ha i was wondering the same thing! My son was born with a full head of hair too, he's now 9 months and i dont want to give him a haircut!

Anthony was born with a head FULL of hair he had to have his first hair cut at 3 months and he is now 9 months and is about to get his third cut! it grows like crazy!!!!

My son just turned 3 and he's 1st hair cut was at 2. And i know how you feel about putting it off bc it is a step of them growing up. lol.
If she is ready then you should do it. Just cut the ends if you want

i completely understand your dilemma, it was so hard for me to do the first haircuts and i have boys! so i imagine its an even harder decision when you have a little girl. my first son had a gorgeous head of curls and i had to cut them shortly after he turned one because it was just too much for a little boy and it broke my heart. my second son was even harder because he came out with a head full of hair and by the time he was 5 months old it was past his ears, so i had to bring my little baby in for a haircut before he was even half way to his first birthday. i guess if its getting too long tho and if the ends are dead, get it cut. it will look fresh and probably be easier to brush. its hard to bring them in for their first cut, but it has to be done sometime, good luck tho. :) and bring a ribbon or something and keep a little bit, put it in a scrapbook or something, next to pictures of her first haircut.

We cut our sons hair when he was about 18 months old, and it KILLED ME. I will never opt for cutting it again, I love his long curly locks lol.

However, when he gets bigger and decides he wants a haircut I'll let him go get a haircut. It is his hair, after all. He can do what he wants with it.

My daughter is 3, and I just trimmed off the ends of her hair for the first time a few weeks ago. I did it myself after she got out of the bath. When I would comb her hair, it didn't matter how much conditioner was in it, I couldn't get the comb through some places at the ends because it was so damaged it would just stay stuck together. I didn't cry because I knew it was such a small amount that I would barely notice. She has light curls so it made them bounce up a little more, too:-)

I had my daughter done at 6 months. She was born with a head full of hair and by 6 months it was out of control and we wanted it to look half decent for christmas

I have a friend who has never cut her daughters hair and the little girl is 4. My little one has hardly any hair at almost two, so I don't know when I'll get it done. It is starting to look like a mullet and I know I should, but I'm just so glad she finally has hair!!! I'll probably do it soon though, just a little trim to make her look a little less 80's.
