my son was 4. due to stress and anxiety it was not the right time any earlier than that. when he was settled and on a good routine, the "nuk fairy" came!
(nuk is the gerber paci)
the nuk fairy took all the nuks while he was asleep and left him a very specail new toy!

My daughter kinda self-weaned herself off it a little over a month ago. It started as no longer needing it during the day for naps and only for the car and sometimes for nighttime. Now she only uses it when she's super sooky and her dad's in town (we see him 4-7days a month and she only uses it maybe twice in this span)

My daughter was about 10 months when i weaned her off of her binky. She had HORRIBLE ear infections and actually had tubes in her ears 4 times. Her pediatrician told us to discontinue the binky and she gradually got better. It was pretty easy though, we just cut the nipples off all her binky's and she gave up after about a day.

The sooner the better, your precious little one is more prone to getting ear infections due to binkies so the sooner would be best, I hope this helps you.

it's really hard to do it but they just can't keep a binky forever. my son is two years old and still has his but we've been trying soooo hard for what seems like forever to get it away from him. to him it's his comfort so we've even tried getting him attatched to a blanket or a stuffed animal instead but it's really hard to take something away that he's had for comfort his whole life. as soon as possible is best but sometimes that's just not how it goes. work with your baby and see how it goes... some are more attatched than others and it takes longer. it all depends on your little bundle of joy. lol!

Mine was an easy one. I was taken to a hospital for emergency open heart surgery she spent the next 2 weeks with my mother in law and sister in law. Because of the commotion it was forgotten. by the time we got back home she never asked for it again. She was 2.5.

We're going for a slow weaning process--she only uses it during naptime and at night. If we know we'll be out of the house during naptime (like at church on Sunday), then we'll bring it with us to help keep her calm when she would otherwise be sleeping. In a few months, we'll try taking it away during naps. We'll try to have her off of it by 2.

When my son was about 28 months old I noticed he really wasn't using it that much anymore for naps or actually for anything so I just took them all and got rid of them. It really was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. The first nap it took him a little longer than usual to fall asleep but we haven't had any problems with it. Good luck.

I remember when my mom had me give up my binky. I was 3 and it was Easter and she said I was a big girl now and so I should give my binky to the Easter bunny so that he could give it to some little kid who didn't have one. Silly I know, but it worked, and I'm sure you could pick any holiday really.

it is really hard to take that sucky away i know :) i have 4 kids and 3 have had it :(
when my daughter was almost 2 her father and i told her it was time to be a big girl and i explained that every morning when she woke up i would cut just a little bit off and i did . it took her about a week to give up on it . you can try that or even hold a minni funarel and tell her to say bye bye to that nasty thing and let her throw them away .
