wieght problems

OK well my baby girl was not sleeping or gaining any wight so i stared giving her rice cereal around 2 weeks just a little bit in a bottle wont hurt the baby it will help them sleep and gain wight the doc said it was fine!

I'm having the same problem now with my 15 month old. he is maybe 20 pounds... i mean.. he was a preemie by 7 weeks and born at 3 lbs 13 oz so he's always been small but eating is a struggle. he's getting taller but not gaining any weight. and i have a 4 month old too.. so its difficult.

Hi my little one had real trouble putting on weight so we started her on baby cereal at 5 months (probably could have done it earlier in hindsight) and I cook all of her food myself, I have a cook book by Anabel Karmel that I get most recipes out of and they have lots of good fats in them to help babies grow : ) My daughter is now 13 1/2 months and is petite but very healthy and putting on weight at a regular rate. HI yes with you there but i will admit my girl was a bit older before i had to worry to much about her weight. She is nearly 4 and a half and only weighs approx 36pounds now at 4 months she would have only been around the same weight as your little one or possibly a bit smaller and at 12 months she was approx 16 to 17 pounds. Its hard for me to get the conversions im in AUS and we weight by grams so at 4 months she was 4800grams(4.8kilo) at 6 months she was 6600(6.6kilo)and at 12 months she was only 8750(8.75kilos)so she lost a massive amount on the charts. We were sent to a peadiatricain who sent us to a child dietician. I had her on rice cereal in her bottles by 4 weeks because she wouldnt take anymore then 90 to 110mls a feed and wanted to feed every 2.5 to 3 hours. By adding half a formula scoop of rice cereal to her bottle i could manage to get her to last out to 3.5 to 4 hours between feeds.

I also started her on solids by 3 months and i made my own food. I would do up a pot of boiled veg mash it up and store is in food cubes in the freezer(you can use normal ice trays)that way you simply took a couple of cubes out each night and mircowaved them or let them defrost naturally. I also did the same with fruits. My little girl never liked her food real runny so i tended to leave them a bit chunky. People would freak if around when i fed her at times because she would occasionally gag. What alot of people dont realise is that its normal and a needed thing for your baby to gag on their food as it helps them learn to actually chew.

As they get older and you are concerned about the weight you simply enrich the food. So when you do the veggies add a good scoop of butter and some cheese to it while its hot so it melts in. If they have rice cereal for breakfast use their formula but mix a small amount of it with some powdered ordinary milk.

At 4 months they are more then old enough to start on solid foods and this can also buy you time with your other little one. Get them to help feed baby encourage them to help you most older sibling will really enjoy this side of things it make them feel grown up.

Good luck with it all, i am still having issues with weight on my girl even now so its no easy fix

my baby is 7/12 months and only weight 12lbs. My baby has struggled from day one to gain weight. The pead put her on solids at 3 1/2 months. We fed her things high in calories like advocado, baby purees with a scoop of formula, or a teaspoon of olive oil added.

i did my son has a high metabealim so the but him on baby food and ceral and that made him gane weight.. so that is what i did for my son... it works wonder plus he sleeps longer too...
