Would you Microchip your child?

There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I would put a microchip in my daughter. My daughter is not a dog or a cat. And, I definitely do not treat her as an animal...so why would I even consider it. I LOVE my daughter to death! But, I would not do such a thing to her. How would you like somebody to put a microchip in you...would you like it if your parents did it to you...I highly doubt it...you could have been taken as a child and weren't. I feel for those children and the parents of children who have been taken! But, there are plenty of healthy children who still live at home....KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KID AND THEY WON'T BE TAKEN~

i think this is crazy!! n if i was microchips as i child i would be realy angery with my mum n dad n as a teenages more than likely cut it out of myself!.. i dont like the sound of it at all... it could cause more problems than good, easyer to find people and some people just dont want to be found.

Then, let's talk about actually busting up these crime rings instead of generating revenue from traffic tickets. If our local and federal governments actually got serious about crime, they would put more money into it rather than into technology that would give them more control over the honest citizenry of our country.

My father was an attorney, so I've heard the stories about police and how they operate. For example, the cop who visited a woman who was throwing a birthday party for her son and a neighbor called to complain. The cop gave her a hard time and the woman said, quite bluntly, that he should be spending his time investigating and prosecuting the pimps and drug lords down the street instead of bothering her and her son's birthday party. I also have friends (and even a brother in law) who are cops and they have been quite honest about the pressure to write tickets for revenue.

So, you want your children to be safe? Then put pressure on your local, state and federal government to do their freaking jobs so that we don't have to worry about our kids playing in the backyard by themselves, or walking around a nice neighborhood with the fear that some freak may drive up to them and try to kidnap them, or losing sight of them for one instant at the local park. How about harsher penalties for those who do hurt children or kidnap women? How about the death penalty for those who rape and murder? How about not pampering inmates in prison so that they would rather commit new crimes so they can go back to that environment rather than suffer and work in the real world?

People need to stop being so afraid and actually take action. People need to stop acting like those who do bad things have all the power and that we should give up our rights for peace and freedom because of abusive and evil people. We should not be intimidated. We should be angry; angry that so many children are abused in this country, angry that so many women are kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery, angry that the very people who are supposed to protect us and our children are under-trained, under-supported and under-financed, angry that people are suggesting we live in fear and give up our basic freedoms to passively combat crime instead of actively and ferociously combat those who would hurt and steal our loved ones from us. How dare they? This is not normal. This is not okay. Our honest citizens should not be expected to just accept this fate.

I cant imagine putting a foreign object into my child, let alone how it could possibly make this world ne better! There will always be bad people out in this world and as a parent we can only do so much to protect our kids but I personally don't think that just from these microchips they can change our world! We need alot more help than these lil chips! And like it was stated before by the time the auuthorities get the your child there is no promise that they aren't already hurt, heaven forbid abused or worse killed! So I think, like alot of others, that it IS a government control thing! They would like to know what our every more is and what a easier plot than to hit the "key" points with the  protective parents and want them to get the devils work implanted into our children! I think alot of us just need to believe that God will take care of us and remember everything happens for a reason!!!!!!!!

Would it be removed after a certain age? And I would not want the government having anything to do with the identity of my child. I would not want it in myself for the purpose of others being able to hack in and find out things about me. If they can hack into computers don't you think the sickos out there could hack in and find out exactly where your child lives? The whole point on it scares me. I would not ever want anything to happen to my children, and its sick that it has come this far with this day and age to have to worry about it. I personally couldn't do it.

I like the idea of placing device into underwear... it should be hidden somewhere where it wouldn't be stripped or ripped off.

Not possible right now. GPS is hard enough to pick up outside, it is just getting to the point where it is usable inside to the point where it can tell you the correct building. Skin contains a lot of water, water blocks GPS signals very well. Even if power wasn't an issue and under the skin GPS system just wouldn't work as soon as you went inside.

GPS itself doesn't need much power but GPS only knows where it is, it doesn't tell anything else where it is. So you would need a cell phone type link to pass that information back to your computer. The power requirements for that are far too much to implant.

And to be completely honest unless there is a reason you think someone would want to kidnap your child (in which case go to the police) you're being a little paranoid. Child abductions are hugely overblown by the media because they get the viewing numbers up, you'd be protecting your child far more by making sure they know how to cross the street safely than by tracking their movements.



BOTTOM LINE. GPS under the skin does not work and can cause major complications. If your that paranoid then buy some shoes with GPS in it or something. PLUS there was some implanted into dogs an actually caused cancer. No thank you!

as most of us have said we'd need more information, some are for it some are not, but as Amber lawter had said you love your pets enough to do it, other than the fact your child is human what is the difference. you wouldn't want your pet taken, and you obviously wouldnt want your child/ren taken. i think alot of us are on the fence and need more info to make a formal decision.

I saw the idea up there somewhere of something the kids can wear, but what would be something that all ages (till bout 18) could wear that they would actually want to wear or not pull off them like my 15mnth old would. i do like that idea but it would have to be something they coudln't loose at school, or that a kidnapper wouldn't know, also the fact (god forbid) the kidnapper would kno about these things and strip the child so the child couldn't be tracked. i think we have something going on here that could work.



i think if we all put our heads together (opposed and for) the idea we could come up with something that would actually work. we are the parents, we do have brains, altho sometimes (more often than not for me) it feels like i live on autopilot, we can come up with something that is safe, consealable, and with a gps to locate the kids. instead of disagreing with each other lets try to think of something that would work.

I know this was set up to create debate and get ideas..so with that in mind lets think of ideas that could work that every parent would feel good about and easy use for parents, not to snoop on your childs privacy, but in an ICE (In Case of Emergency) situation.

No I would never my son is not a dog and in my opinion that is something we do with our animals not our children not to mention the fact that we are not sure on the effects it would have on our childre I do know that the microchip in animals can move to different parts of the body and can also cause other health issues

No matter how careful you and your kids are, there is always a chance that they can be kidnapped. If it would help me find my child, I would definitely do it! It can always be removed if, when they're older, they decide they don't want it in. With a 4 month old and a 3 year old, they don't want a single second of privacy! I don't know why people say "its for animals" when it is for animals that are so loved the family does not want them to be lost. How can you say its ok for a pet to be brought home, but its not worth bringing your child home?

i'd rather get something that my child could wear, like those shoes someone mentioned. I'm not so sure of something being put inside my child. I mean, i was nervous about having the tubes for ear infections put in.



on, the other hand, until criminals started finding out how to cut these things out (which i'm sure they will eventually), it could save a lot of lives.



i'd have to do some serious thinking about it.



i'm not opposed to it as an option, just not sure if i'd want it for my family.

i would wanna know alot more information and also one of the ladies said in her post is they ar trying to conect cancer with cellphones so how is this chip going to be any safer in that area. it just makes me very nervous and but yet would make me feel so safe on knowing i would be able to find my baby....that one would take a long time to decide i don't know.

I agree with Rachel Hiser. If we put more money into preventing crimes, such as kidnapping, then we wouldn't have to worry about it. I work on an ambulance in Flint, MI as a paramedic and have to deal with stuff like that all the time, unfortuntately. However, in regards to training our children to defend themselves, I do feel a 3-yr-old would be no match against a grown man, even if he/she were trained to fight back. I don't think I would micro-chip my son, but it may be something we as parents have to resort to in the future when watching them closely and training them to defend themselves no longer works. People do sick things and there really isn't a way to stop them without having police circling every neighborhood in America 24/7.

That's a harsh statement, the chips not just about keeping tract of your child but also gives parents a peace of mind that if their child goes missing they can find them. Just because some parents are negligent doesn't mean every parent is, there are different circumstances for every incident. Believe it or not things happen that people including parents have no control over this is life and maybe some would like to have the chip to help gain control and comfort over such situations. Either way anyones opinions sway, their entiteld to it, I think it's horrible to attack somone in such a manner.

We cannot protect our children forever, and to be overprotective is unhealhty - you have to let your children grow, expand and learn -- you can teach them the skills, and give them the knowledge, and then you have to open their wings and let them fly! This isn't easy for any of us - and its a factor you dont realize until you become a parent. I remember being a teen thinkin that when i had kids, i was going to be a cool mom, and they could sit and drink with me, and i would be their best friend, and they could do whatever they wanted -- now, that im a mother - i dont wish for any of that! hahaha I want to gather them in my arms and hold their hands forever - but in reality we just cannot.

So now that im all over the place, and off subject - sorta -- my main point is: NO I would never do the microchip. I can understand about the kidnappings and stuff - you would find your child. But the microchip isn't going to heal the child - if they were abused in any form. The Lord will. And that's where I will rest my case.

By the way - for anyone against what I said - I am stating my opinion and my own faith about the subject - not telling anyone what they should beleive or what i think they should or whatever-- this is MY BELIEF.

With all the kids that go missing every year thats a great protection device. and the fact that my babys dad and I dont get along, he'd take him to mexico the first chance he got. I would want to make sure I knew I could find my baby. I know the whole thing with the mark from the bible comes to mind but with technology expanding I dont believe that this could be the mark. Plus if it would be able to be removed when he got older then why not?

I personally see micro chipping as a way for the government to check up and control the human race and I would NEVER ever do such a thing like this to my children! There is no telling what they could do with these chips! My children are not a lab rat! Its the mark of the beast (Satan) and Im Christian so that will be a no go for me and mine!! But that's just my personal opinion!

My input is from a religious perspective. Not to hit a touchy subject, but many believers are highly against the idea. If you are a Christian, that is. If you are a Christian, then you should not. It is considered a mark of the beast (Satan) and is referred to in the Bible. For more information, read the book of Revelations...in the Bible. Or ask a Christian minister or reverend.

My main concern is that the book of Revelation warns about the mark of the beast. It just seems that this is one step away from this type of technology. In the bible it talks about not being able to purchase food or anything else. No one is suppose to accept this mark even if it meant they go hungry because it is from evil. I would not microchip my child.

I would not microchip my child, but I do believe in those tracking devices in necklace, shoes, phones, belts, etc



But as far as putting something inside them, that would have to be removed later in life to protect his right to privacy--- NO!!! They should make a tracking device that could be put on a tooth--- safely-- and that would be easily removed! That I would definately do-- because it could be removed later without surgery.

I agree with you on wanting to know all the details!!! I did not get any of my children the H1N1 shot because there was not enough research done. I also agree that I would not get the micro chip if there wasn't enough research on it. I did re-read my post and it sounded a little bitchy and that is not how I meant it. the reason why i brought up the issue of the h1n1 shot was to compare the 2. the shot and the chip. as for the comment "if you need the microchip you shouldn't be a parent" you can be a very good parent and your child can still go missing. kidnappers dont discriminate between rich,poor, good or bad parents. some people shoudn't be parents yes, but to have something as an extra saftey precaution...i don tthink there is anything wrong with that. Again i'd have to know all the facts about it before i would have it anywhere near my child. but in this world (which is only getting worse) you can never be too safe for your kids. Again this is my opinion and i'm not sayin i'm right or wrong. this is stricktly MY opinion. as a parent your childs safety, health and well being is the most improtant things. the thing is..every person has an opinion, i brought up the h1n1 to show that not everyone agrees and both would have risks of some sort and until things have been tested fully and the information given out people can not fully make a decision, only opinions. as i stand as long as it was completly safe with no side effects i would. look at the technology that's out there now. imagine the things we could change in this world if only given the opportunity to do so. I think somethign that would help with child safety is good.

so all of you who say no to the microchip..did u say no to the h1n1 shot? the shot had very little research before it came out and no one knows what the long term effects are if there are any? or did you rush out to get it because the government told you to? what i'm getting at is there is just as high of the risks with either one with the very little to no research out there for either cause. just something to think about.
