would you trust a teenager to watch your baby or toddler?

I can't say I would. I prefer Grad students. I think about how I was when I was a teenager. Not that I was bad or anything I just wasnt mature enough. It's amazing how fast you grow up in the short amount of time when you have a child.

I think it would depend on the maturity level and how long and how i know the teenage. i wouldnt mind my 16 yr old neice babysitting for a few hours. My goddaughter has been babysitting for me since she was 15.

I was my blocks babysitter when I was 13-17. I knew them and they knew me very well. Also, I became an Aunt at age 13 and was a babysitter 24/7 at home. If you know the teens background and trust them then I don't see a problem with it.

apparently 12 is the age to take baby siting classes. That's why you always meet the person before you let them take care of your children. I was babysitting from the time i was 14. but i was very mature. You have to go with your gut. I would let my sister watch my children and shes 12 but she takes after me. and if you think about it, as long as your child can talk, after you get hoem the first time ask your child how the night was and if they liked the baby sitter, and if they would like the sitter to come back next time mommy and daddy go out.. the only person who knows what really happened is your child.. trust them

It would really depend on the teenager. When I was in highschool I was a nanny for the entire summer. The mother was a flight attendant and the father traveled a lot for his job. I was 16 and watched a 4, 3, and 1 year old for a few days at a time by myself.

I agree with the other moms on here. I think it depends on the teenager. I too began babysitting when I was a teenager, I had a few regular gigs because they knew me and I knew their kids.
Now, as a mother myself, I would probably feel better leaving my daughter with someone older, if I didn't know them well. However, on the teen side of things if I lived closer to family, I have two nieces that are in their teens, I would definately consider asking one of my nieces to babysit (or take her recomendation on others who could handle babysittineg) and can't really picture leaving my baby girl with the other one (I would trust her 10 year old brother more than her). :)

I think it really depends on whether you know the teenager or not. I used to babysit my cousins froms 14 but I wouldn't really be comfortable leaving my son with a teenager unless I had know them for a while and knew they could be trusted.

Well, i baby sat the whole time i was a teenager.. i started at age 14,but i was very mature for my age though. i guess it just depends on how mature the teenager is and if he or she has ever gotten into trouble with her parents by boys/girls, drugs, or achoale, etc.

I think it depends on the teenager. How long you have known then and what they are like. I use to babysit from the time i was 14, but for people i have known a long time. Go with your gut feeling. If it desnt feel right then dont if it does, give it a trial for 1 hr. then see how you go.
