I have a 9 month old daughter and don't live near any of my longtime friends. I just wanted to know if am I the only person in this situation? I find myself needing other women my age who have children that I can relate to and just hang out with. I live in a college town where most of my peers don't have children and don't have th maturity of being a mother. I do like to go out occasionally and enjoy myself and it just sucks not having anyone my age to hang out with. I do have my fiance but I can't hang out with him all the time,..sometimes I just need a girl's night out but I am stuck in this town without knowing anyone my age that has kids. Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas of how to meet young moms like me.

Thanx :)

you are off to a great start but you have to put yourself out there. if your baby goes to daycare try to meet some of the other parents. you dont have to hang out with adults your age. some of my best friends are older than i am. i just try to find parents and kids who are compatible with my child, my partner, and me.

Yeah I feel the same. I like ot get out of the house and visit people and do things with our baby girl but noen of our friends have kids. I would love a baby close to my daughter's age that she can grow up with and a mom that has my interests for me to grow with haha

meetup.com is a good source for finding other mom's in your area and things you are interested in. I also joined a group MOPS (mothers of pre-schoolers) for mom's of kids from birth thru pre-school. This was a group that meets twice/month and they have speakers come and you do activities and crafts and stuff. The one here had lots of very nice women, although I did find I was the only single mom there, which was kind of weird, but still worth the experience. Hope that helps

Have you tried meetup.com? I've signed up with local groups in the past that are with moms of other little kids and it gives good bonding oppertunities for kids and moms.

I know how you feel because I'm stuck at home most of the time with my kids and much as I love them, I need to be ME too.
