This may be a little long I apologize. My son has been breastfed since birth. At about 6 months (he is almost 9 now) is when things started to go south. At his 6 month check up he went fron the 65th%tile to the 25%tile. At that point I wasn't really concerned. He was fussy but I just wrote it off as teething. At 8 month he dropped much much further down to the 3rd! He only gained 4oz in 2 months! I wouldn't be all that worried if it was just the weight. But its the weight, he's cranky even if he nurses all day long and he isnt getting enough wet diapers! About 3 a day and they aren't really that wet. He can nurse all day long, I can pump in between, I can power pump, take fenugreek NOTHING has helped boost my supply. I don't know whats going on. I want to nurse him until be is a LEAST one. I wanted to go till 2!! Now it seems as if i'm going to have to stop at 9 months. This literraly breaks my heart. I've shed many tears, had panic attacks and have been so stressed. The ONLY time he is ever happy and content is when I give him formula or EBM. Even the EBM doesn't keep him that full and happy. UGH I just feel like a faliure. PLEASE HELP!! Sorry for all the errors and this being ALL over the place I'm just bugging out.. TIA

Hi ashley, firstly i think that you need to give yourself a break you are obviously a great mum that cares about nothing more than her childs wellbeing! so welldone! your doing your job well! even if you dont go on breastfeeding you have already provided him with so much nutrition for 9months while his immune system has developed. some mums have to stop at 1 or 2 months for various different reasons so i think you should feel very happy and proud that you have come this far. I stopped breastfeeding at 7 and 8 months with my girls and they have had the occasional bug but they are happy, healthy and clever little girls. formula can actually be a great thing for a bub that needs a bit of weight and has as many vitamins and minerals as a good multi vitamins. alternatively the MOST AMAZING breastfeeding supply increaser i have ever tried was Brewers yeast..it really tastes foul but seriously you take 5 tablespoons of this stuff before bed and wake up with the fullest boobs ever-you buy this from healthshop for about 20 dollars i mixed it into smoothies but found that mixing it in vegemite and trying to swallow it whole like a pill with water works best.this will improve that quantity but not necasarrily the quantity so get some complain( shake mix) from the supermarket and up your essential fatty acids with foods like lots of mixed nuts and avacado...i know this stuff because my natural supply was very small so i learned the best ways to increase it...i hope this helps..and remember to be easy on yourself you are doing your best and thats what makes a good mum..i think :D
