I'm 33 weeks and I love taking baths, everytime I do my son kicks up a storm! I love feeling him move so if taking a bath does that then bring on the bubbles and relaxation lol :)

I didn't know anything about bath worries when I was pregnant so carried on as normal. We don't have a shower so I'd have been a bit smelly after 9 months without. I had hot bubble baths every day. Baby loved it and wriggled a lot. She was born with no interventions 5 days early and is now 15 weeks old. She loves her own baths now, though obviously not hot ones, and loves bathing with me in her special bath chair. It didn't do either of us any harm and actually helped me to sleep and relax.

i only ever bathed when i was pregnant to be honest my bath was the only time i could really relax and my baby was fine i had a natural birth he came out bang on his due date and weighed 9lb 8oz so my advise if you want a bath have a bath lol :)

i was told that its okay to have a warm bath not a hot bath because it heats up your core temp.. which will cause your baby to have a high temp whens its born... says my doctor

How can you avoid a nice warm bath?! Especially when your pregnant.
I don't see a problem with it or how there could be, relax and enjoy women! :)

My doctor told me the only reason why not to take a bath is because you could pass out in the bath from being so tired and so relaxed. I've been taking alot of baths sometimes when my back's been really soar almost one every night for about a week, and I'm due in about 3 weeks and every things been great for me.

I have never heard of a bath causing a miscarriage... I mean, do not have a scolding bath or sex in the tub, but there is nothing wrong with a warm relaxing bath... You need that time to unwind!

i wouldnt avoid baths, i got told the same when i first fell pregnant and i was abit warey but now im 38 weeks i couldnt do without my baths, they do actually help you with back pains and relax you just dont take piping hot baths and you'll be fine :)

Hi Rachel,

I really looked into this as I had two miscarriages before this pregnancy and didn't want to do anything to harm this one.

The reason they say not to have a hot bath is because they don't know the effects of the heat and the placenta. Some ppl say that it can slow blood flow to the placenta but there is no research that suggets this, it is just a theroy. All research and doctors will say that a luke warm bath, just enough to take the chill out of the water is fine.

I have had a few baths in the pregnancy and nothing has happened, although I didn't find them helpful to my aches and pains....

i have never heard of that i always had hot baths right through my pregnancy i found it helped my back and the day i was in labour i was in and out the bath all day the midwifes suggested having a bath to ease the pain and it helped. my daughter loved it when i went in the bath she was always kicking around.

wow thats werid news to me never heard about that why dont you talk to your doctor. i honestly took a warm bath through out my pregnacy but you cant have a super hot bath such as a hot tub.

and also when i was in labor my doctor told me i could take a bath...they only say it can cause a miscarriage because its relaxing and your really relaxed that your body thinks its "time" just like they say when your due before u go into labor your baby settles down and does move as much as it used to...if it really worries u talk to your doctor about it...all docs are diff :) mine said it was fine :P

there is nothing wrong with bathing in fact its good for u...i bathed and swam in the summer time throughout BOTH my pregnancies...my doctor advised me to take baths when my back was sore or the baby wouldnt settle down...u take ur bath...just not bubble baths :)
