My son started doing that at about 1 year, we always rocked him to sleep and put him in his crib. Dr told me that they go through several sleep cycles and wake up during the night. He needed to be rocked to go back to sleep because he didn't know how to put himself back to sleep. We started rocking him until he was very sleepy but still awake, and just put him in his bed. It took about a week (the first few day were hardest) He cried for about 1 1/2 hours the first night and that time got shorter every night until he finally stopped fighting it. That was 2 months ago, and he hasn't woken us up in the middle of the night since.

Yes it's fine. All children are different. They are going to have different personailties as well as sleep patterns. My 1st wakes up 2 or 3 times a night but my 2nd sleeps straight thur. If you already don't try giving him what I call a "thick bottle" just before he goes to bed. About 8oz of breastmilk or formula mixed with 4 to 6oz of oatmeal or rice. Coates the stomache really good. It could be he's just hungry. Those boy LOVE to eat. I hope this helps.
