Who are you? Are you an instructor, a student, etc.? What is your favorite thing about Zumba? When did you start doing Zumba, get licensed, or start teaching? Where do you do Zumba? Why/how did you get involved in Zumba? Add anything else you'd like to share!

Hello. I am a student. I just started doing Zumba about a month ago and i love it! I would love to eventually become an instructor but for now I will continue to go to all the classes I can. I work out at the YMCA and they have some of the best instructors. I decided to go to a class because I heard them from the treadmill I was on and it sounded like they were having FUN. The first class I went to was exhausting but SOO much fun. I'm hooked.

I am Tanya and I'm teach Zumba at the YMCA and a dance studio in the area (working on getting more classes). When I came back from Korea back in 2001, I took a hiatus from dancing salsa, but at that same time, I was introduced to Zumba through an infomercial. I immediately bought the tape and fell in love. I would tell everyone it's like being at the club but with no alcohol. Right before I got pregnant, I lost 25 lbs by doing Zumba and then after my daughter was born, I gained even more weight because of winter and depression. Later in the year, I was introduced to a great person who teaches Zumba and she motivated me to get certified and she's been a big help with me getting started too. Everything she has done for me with Zumba, I plan to do for others just getting started.

I started doing Zumba in May 2009 when one of my friends asked me to go with her so our husbands could watch our babies together. That same friend convinced me to go the the workshop with her so I became licensed in August in Hawaii. I started teaching at the YMCA in Casper, WY in September. I have 2 half hour classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and am about to start a Saturday class. I practice Zumba almost everyday, though. My favorite thing about Zumba is the cardio workout you get from it and the mental benefits. Zumba made me feel sexy again after going through the changes of pregnancy. It also helped me find myself again after becoming a stay-at-home mom; Zumba is a great way to make friends and have fun!
