Cutting out red dye in foods..

Before putting our son on meds since that is the LAST thing we want to do, we want to try cutting out the red dye in his foods. Does anyone have a good solid list that has the dye in the foods? I have tried looking online but haven't found too much.

We eliminated all food dyes, MSG, added Nitrates, and other preservatives; Sodium Nitrate, Potassium Bromate, Aspartame, Sulfites, and BHA/BHT. (That last one is tricky. It is also used in "the packaging to preserve freshness" in a lot of Cereal and Cracker boxes.
Red dye and MSG were the big triggers in our daughter's behavioral meltdowns. She actually gets a glazed look in her eyes and gets really grumpy.
It's really easy now to find great alternatives I'll list a few items we keep stocked all of the time...

Boar's Head and Hormel make wonderful lunchmeats, bacon, and cheeses that have zero preservatives and no added nitrates.

YoBaby! yogurt sticks (Go-gurt alternative.)

Goldfish Colors. I avoided these like the plague until I actually read the ingredients. The colored goldfish are now brightened with annatto extract, beet juice concentrate, paprika extract, paprika, turmeric extract, huito juice concentrate and watermelon juice concentrate!

Simple Mornings Muffin Mixes

Natural Cheetos

Lightly Salted Fritos

Our rules... If you cannot pronounce the ingredient... DO NOT BUY!
If you get tired after reading the long list of ingredients... DO NOT BUY!
I give the items to my daughter to read the list of ingredients. She has become really good at making the decisions. Most of the time she will put the item right back on the shelf. =)

It isn't just the red dyes that are a problem look up the feingold diet it will help you to see what kind of dietary changes you may need.
