I have no clue what to do for my sons birthday party. My husband has suggested doing a bbq, my mum suggested finger food. But i don't know if i even want to throw him a party. The only children that will be there are my son, my 2 nephews who are 4 years old and 6 months and my sons friend he is 22 months. The rest will be adults. Id love to throw him a party but im not too sure what to do ! Would love some suggestion please ! His birthday is 2 weeks tomorrow so i was thinking if i was gona throw a party, it would either be the weekend before his birthday 24th or 25th, or do it the weekend after his birthday which will be 31st or 1st ! Thanks :)

We (my hubby and I) decided on no party this year for a variety of reasons. Instead we took a small trip for the day to the beach and had a great time with no fuss and no muss. But if we had done a party we would have done BBQ and snacks. Some activities you could have set up ahead of time are bubbles, drawing/coloring, even decorating their own cupcake or cookie.

We just had my son's bday party, and it was primarily adults. We just had a bbq. I served hot dogs/hamburgers and I had a cake for him. There wasn't any kind of "organized" activity for the kids, we just let them run around and play together and they had a blast!

Thanks for your ideas !
Decided to go for a toy story theme, as he's mad about it at the moment ! Just going to have finger food and soft drinks. I've got a ball pool for the kids, a little trampoline and i'm going to buy some other outdoor toys so they don't get bored. Only doing the party for about 2 hours so it's not too long and not too short either.
Thanks again for your ideas, just hope the party runs smoothly lol x

Hi Sarah,

My son just recently turned 2 and I threw a Wiggles Birthday Party for him.

There were cupcakes, fairy bread, fruit platter, marshmellow sherbert cones, chippies, lollies and poppers for the kids and softdrink for the adults..
Typically a kids party only runs 2-3 hours so not alot of food is needed. Just finger foods.
I had a kiddie big red car pool and a pirate ship water slide and cannon shooter and a pinata (which took up alot of time) and a freeze frame dance off.
Was a great day and not too much hassell.

Hope this helps :)

We just did my daughter's 2nd birthday party last week (April 7th) and we had a Playground Party at her favorite playground. It worked out really well, because a couple of her little friends came, and the adults loved getting to watch them on the playground. It was pretty low-key, we had it in the morning, so we brought juice boxes and mini-muffins, and then did mini-cupcakes after we sang happy birthday. Even her little baby friends (4-6 month olds had fun swinging in the baby-sized swings and watching the other kids play. If you have some decent weather (which we did, thank goodness) this might work for you too. It was so easy and fun, we are thinking of just doing the same thing for her again next year!
