My little guy is in the midst of potty training but keeps having 'accidents', about 1 a day. Is he not ready or is this normal? He refuses to wear diapers anymore and I don't want him to revert to them anyhow. He used to ask to go to the potty before we actively started training, now I have to tell him when to go and it's always when I'm busy at something that he has an accident. Is this normal? Should I just keep chugging along?

Not a problem-it does take them a long time to recognize the signals from their body-something we take for granted as adults.

It is very normal. It could be that he is too busy to notice his body's signals, or that he thought it was fun before but really not ready. One accident a day is really not bad. I myself have a boy who is 3 years and 10 months, who refuses to poop in the potty; and if he thinks he has to poop will not urinate in the potty either (or even want to sit there). This also is normal (the normal range is 2-5). Hang in there and good luck. It takes lots of time-and it truly is their call.
