1st Birthday Plans

What are your plans for your baby's first birthday party? I am putting together an invitation list that keeps growing and it looks like it will be too many people for our house and my parents house is a little too far and SO not childproof. We're just inviting immediate family & close friends but it's up to almost 50 people (about 15 of those are kids ranging from 6mo - 5 years). We live in CT and the end of April is still pretty unpredictable weather for an outdoor party. What is everyone else doing? Any creative ideas without spend a TON of $$?

I actually have a guest list of about 50 adults and 20 children and that is just family alone. We will be having our celebration at the beach. We've already reserved 3 pavilions and we are bringing a canopy for extra shelter. We will be serving bbq and hotdogs. My son's theme is The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and I've already spent $200 on decorations and party favors.

The way I see it..it's my son's FIRST birthday so we are going way out! Our family is helping out a lot. My sister-in-law paid for the party site reservation and clean-up, as well as a moon bouncer. My parents are helping out with the food. Family who will attend will most likely bring a dish as well. I am blessed with lots of FAMILY SUPPORT!

One suggestion, check out your local hotels and see if they do children's parties by the pool. They provide the food, cake, and sometimes even a magician. Lots of families are doing this where I'm from.

I opted for the beach because my son has never been to the beach before!

I'm trying to figure out what to do as well...so far we're going to have 2 parties. One near my parents and family and one near my husbands family. The one near my parents we're renting out a building and combining his 1st birthday party with my nieces 2nd birthday party, so we're doing a Minnie and Mickey Mouse theme. The other party for my husbands side...I'm still unsure about..my husband would like to have it at a park, but I don't...too much risk on the weather...so I was thinking about doing an indoor water park...we have one very close to us that is geared towards kids, so it'll be nice and warm, and all of the kids will have something to do...but I'm also thinking about doing it at the zoo...it'd be really fun for everyone to enjoy..but again...the weather.

OMG 50 people - I won't be doing anything like that - plenty of time for big parties - I'll be having children's party (not one for adults) which will last a couple of hours and it'll be immediately family and a few close friends (who have young kids). Plenty of time for going all out I think when they are aware of what is gonig on.
