It's been 7 months since I gave birth and I still have LOTS of falling hair especially after taking a shower. Is this still normal?!

my baby boy, Owen is 7 mnts old and oh i wish my hair would also stop falling out, after every shower i have hands full of hair in the brush! my doctor says we have 3 stages of hair growth. 1. growth, 2. stand still and 3. falling out. in pregnancy our hair is only in stages 1 and 2. but after giving birth and all the hormones, then comes stage 3. so ladies in the 9 months that it didnt fall out, we are cathing up!

I had my baby on 4/15, and i was so afraid i would go bald! i have thin/fine hair to begin with, and after a shower, or when i would blow my hair dry, or just brush it, there would be a ton of hair everywhere. I would say that within the past month it has returned to normal and im so relieved! I was, at one point, pricing wigs, just in case! It will get better :)

Did you have an epidural during your labor? If yes, its because of that too, not only hormonal. Its written in the papers that you sign before having the epidural... who have the time to read that with contractions every 5 minutes...

My hair loss has slowed, but it's still more significant than it was pre-pregnancy. Totally normal, though unfortunate. :-P I'd like it if we could keep that awesome pregnancy hair around for a while!

you dont loose a whole lot when your pregnant. after you have the baby you start to loose more hair, due to hormones and sometimes having postpartum thyroidism can cause hair loss too. Its been 7 months since i had my daughter and im still loosing hair, but it has slown down abit.

This time my hair stopped falling out around 5 months - but with my first it kept going until about 9 months, and I had bald patches, I was so scared it would all fall out - but it grew back, just takes time!

Not sure if it's normal but I have the same thing. Mind you my hair got really thick with my pregnancy so I just figure it now going back to pre pregnancy

yes because your hormones take a long time to get back to normal after having a baby. sometimes upto 2 years aslong as it isnt clumps of hair its ok. if your worried ask your midwife. because if your stressed through having your baby that may cause it to. x
