food suggestions...

Melissa - posted on 03/03/2010 ( 2 moms have responded )

I have started to phase out baby food for my son (10mths). He does well with what i have given him so far which is chedder cheese, bananas, mandarin oranges, pancake, scrambled egg yolk, and mashed potatoes...
I just need some more suggestions...some recipes maybe? meal ideas? snack ideas?

My ten month old daughter eats the meal I have fixed for my husband and I. I do not fix a seperate meal for her. We share a bowl of oatmeal and fruit (banana, apple, orange, pear) for breakfast. At lunch, we usually eat leftovers from the previous night or I will fix her a grilled cheese sandwich, almond butter and jelly sandwich or a chicken quesadilla while I eat a salad or sandwich. For dinner, I fix a variety of foods and I haven't found anything that she won't eat yet. My daughter loves anything that she can pick up and eat with her hands, so I give her small chunks of whatever we are eating. She likes pasta, grilled chicken, bread, avocado, beans, rice, peas, cooked carrots, squash, mango, etc... Her favorite foods right now are spaghetti, green beans and tomatoes. For snacks, we will usually have a piece of fruit and goldfish crackers or graham crackers. She also likes applesauce and yogurt (and ice cream as a very special treat!)

It has made it much more convenient to fix meals or to eat out in a restaurant now that she eats the same things we do. And, it is fun to watch her experience new flavors and textures.

I hope this helps. Have fun!

I recommend the book Feed Me I'm Yours. It gives you lots of different ideas from young babies to school age kids. It has really been helpful for both of my kids.
