What's better to eat every 4 hours or every two?

My 9 months old son eats at 8am, 12 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm before going to bed. Sometimes I wonder how can a 4-5 ounces of meat and veggies and then 6 ounces of milk go inside his tiny stomach. (an example of his lunch)
Does anybody know from a medical perspective if it's better to feed him less but more often or the 4 times a day is just fine?
Thanks in advance!

From a medical perspective, it's better to eat small meals, spread out over a long period of time. However, 4 meals a day isn't particularly too few. If this is what your son seems to thrive on, then it's what's best for him. It's best to let him suggest his own schedule. A good rule of thumb for this age is three solid meals, two snacks, and about 24 oz. of breastmilk or formula in 4-5 servings per day. Stomachs can stretch pretty far, but I agree that he may be eating too much at one sitting if he's spitting some of it back up (which you didn't mention, so I wouldn't worry about it).

Hi, my son is 10 months and 1 week old. At our 9month check up, our Ped told us to make sure he has atleast 24oz of formula/breastmilk and 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

My son eats 3 solid meals, along with 5-6oz bottles which I give him every 3 hours. He seems to be doing great.

Just as long as he eats with ease and is not refusing, he should be alright. Your baby knows when he is full. If he throws up alot, then he may be eating too much.

Take care!
