I have the book... and liked it. Didn't really work for my daughter but I got it at the wrong age for her if that makes any sense. I should have gotten the toddler version lol. It does have some good ideas in it though and I have used it to reference things like how much overall sleep my LO should be getting.

Sorry, I haven't read the book, but we tried the controlled crying method wich I found online. In this method you put baby to bed and then you count 5 minutes from the time they start crying, then go in comfort and soothe baby, then leave, if they start crying again go in in another 5 minutes, etc. It's important to be consistent with the 5 minute time gap because it shows baby that you will be back and builds trust...instead of wondering when you will be back, it remains consistent. Also, it allows baby a bit of time to learn to self soothe, without letting them cry it out for hours. It worked great for my son goes to sleep no problem, he fusses occasionally, but after 1-2 times in the room he's fast asleep. I suggested this method to a friend of mine and it worked well for her also. You could give it a try if you're interested.

Good luck finding something that works for both you and your baby.
