problems with soy formula

Soya formula also made my baby constipated, however it is widely regarded now that soya formula or milk should NOT be given to babies under 12 months, one because it is pumped with sugar and two because it can cause hormone problems and can lead to infertility in boys and problems with menstration in girls. many gp's are not aware of this and still prescribe soya as they did with my baby due to lactose issues but the hospital put him onto sma lf.

Yes, soy is known to give them constipation. My son is on Similac Isomil, and although he does go regularly, it is very hard and pellet like. My doctor changed him early because of lactose issues, but he wants me to try switching him back by 4 months. He said he should have out grown it by now. I just hate the process of changing, it causes all kinds of tummy issues for my little man for 4-5 days. Hope this helped.

My Sophie is almost 12 weeks and has been on formula since about 5 days old, we have had SO much trouble with constipation and even some reflux, finally for about 3 weeks now she has been on "Novalac" step 1, you can only buy it at the chemists but it is AWESOME....she poops EVERY day, for a formula baby that is great, sleeps up to 10hrs a nice and she is so settled and content on it, it was like a different baby when we switched from S26 I tell you!!! They even have a reflux one and a colic one and one for hungry babies, they are a GREAT brand, about $25 a tin but worth every penny!!!

For the congestion try saline spray it's safe enough for babies but try to find Little Noses it helps alot. And for the constipation try putting a little bit of Karo syrup in her bottle. My daughter is on soy too and Karo helps with the constpiation.

my daughters on soy for reflux and her stool is thick and hard and she dosent go as often as she was on reg formula and breastmilk.

wow jenna thats interesting i only went on it on my friends advice being a first time mum u dont know what your doing sometimes i never really liked her on soy im so glad now that youve said that that i did change back!!

i did. his doctor took him off of it and said that soy formula is bad and they're trying to get it pulled off the market

ive now changed her back to her original formula the first 3 days were hell hardly sleeping crying all the time but alas she is going to the toilet no problems as of today and has had an afternoon nap and seems like her old self it was so worth going through those three days she seems so much happier now!

they say 50% of babies with a milk allergy, also have a soy allergy. Right now my son is having half breast milk (i have cut out dairy and soy and eggs out of my diet...but there is still something else bothering him) and half neocate formula (amino acid based)

I am having that problem right now, and I am not sure how to fix it.
We changed her formula because we thought she had a milk allergy but we changed it at 6 weeks. I am wondering now if it could have been colic. She gets constipated really bad and will scream and cry. I took her to ER and they told me to give her those Glycerin Laxatives. She has had 4 just this week. Tuesday is her 2month shots and I will be talking with my pedi to change it. I don't feel like she should be having this much problems with her stomach.
