How did your style change (if at all) after becoming a mom?

My style now comes through in different, more simple, ways. Before having a baby, I might choose the crazy-printed dress or fancy high heels or delicate vintage piece. Now, I opt for the crazy-colored lipstick, fancy bag, and delicate vintage scarf. I keep my everyday wardrobe a bit more basic now, with nursing-friendly tops and well-tailored pants. Also, I have all but phased out the color white from my rotation. With a 10-month old, its just a disaster waiting to happen! I always find a way to express myself with my style, though, no matter how hectic my days may be.

What's your favorite stylish and practical item?

A great coat. In the winter in New York City, you wear your coat everyday and everywhere. No matter what you have on underneath, whether its yesterday's unwashed jeans or a spit-up-covered blouse or your pajamas, you can throw on a great coat and be put together. Secondly, I would have to say a simple and flattering well-tailored dress. One-peice outfits that look stylish and classy are a Mom's best friend. I love the dresses by Hatch this season. They can take you from pregnancy to postpartum to Motherhood, and look amazing all the while.

What's a quick thing moms can do to take their style up a notch?

Lipstick. Definitely lipstick. Take two minutes and put on a bright color (my favorite is bright movie star red!) before you leave the house, and your whole day will change. You look put together. You have more confidence. Others take note of your bold style. You can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt or a formal dress. Lipstick is classy, and I love it. My very favorite is Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (you can get it at Sephora). It's just so ladylike and fun!
