What's a great destination for a family vacation in Canada?

To be honest, we haven't really gone on many vacations yet as a family, but we've enjoyed visiting Victoria. There are lots of fun kid-friendly museums & activities there, great parks, beaches & a wide range of accommodations from super-affordable to deluxe.

In what ways is your home town unique from other places you've lived or traveled?

Vancouver is more ethnically diverse than many cities I've visited, which contributes to a great restaurant scene. The variety of ethnic food you can get here is incredible & it can be really affordable to eat out in this city! With about 2.5 million people in region, it's got most of the amenities & activities you'd expect from a city that size. Where Vancouver shines is probably the natural surroundings more than anything. Being on the ocean, but nestled into the coastal mountains means you could sail & snowboard in the same day & get there on public transportation. It's a very green place, even in the centre of the city: there are a lot of beautiful beaches, parks, gardens & even a few lakes right in the cities that make up Greater Vancouver.

What outdoor activity do you enjoy doing most with your kids?

We love cycling--although it's not a hobby or sport for us, it's just how we get around. It's one of the best ways to really see the city because you can get around the same roads that cars use, then continue onto the seawall & through some of the huge parks we have here. There's nothing like showing your toddler a seal or a squirrel as you bike along on your way somewhere.
