My child's temperant is out of control!!! One minute he is happy and then the next minute he turns around and looks at you with this horrid angry face! Its scary sometimes!!! How do you diffuse a situation like this!?!?!?! Any suggestions or ideas would be great! :)

When my little guy does this, I tell him that he needs to go to his room until he's calmed down. It give him and me a chance to collect ourselves. Is there anything that is triggering it? Any changes at home or daycare? At this age they are just starting to get the vocabulary to discuss what's upsetting them and it may not be obvious. Ask him. Also, it sounds strange, but check out Ni Hao Kai Lan at Nick Jr. They have some activities for identifying emotions and teach kids how to describe what they're feeling and some tools for dealing with their emotions (anger/frustration). It's explained in kid friendly terms that you can work with him on.

I hear you guys with the frustration. I have actually put myself in time out. I tell my son that "mommy is getting really frustrated and needs a time out. I'll be back in 5 minutes." Then I go outside onto the porch and cool down. It also gets the point across that everyone gets frustrated and gives him a healthy example of how to deal with his own anger/frustration.

Hi Kayla! I am experiencing the same frightening changes! The naughty chair has come out again but I must admit...I have to take the time out myself because it is so frustrating! You are not alone ;)
